Guys,

I had a few questions and request sent to me regarding the LED units from B&Q.  I have taken some pics for you of the units to show their size. The major downside to these is the cost from B&Q, they come complete with a transfomer and junction box and cost £40 for three units.  So I have paid for a lot of parts I dont need!!  I was hoping to be able to source the LED's with casings on their own.  I wonder if anyone can help?  The LED's should be easy enough to find, its the casings and lenses that might be an issue.....any thoughts? Apart  from dont buy them their too expensive!

Sorry about the photos!

Sandor,

I have a spare unit, which pulls apart and you can see the the back plate which the emiters are fixed to.  Do you want me to post to you or take pics with dimensions?

H,
is it possible for you to measure the cutouts in the wing (height, width etc) ?
I have not yet cut mine, I was planning on waiting until I have the lights at hand.

Hi John
Thought I would show you what I have done as far as the tags to hold the wing in place I have copied the Euro fixing method by using a bolt through the root rib. Very easy to put together have a blind nut epoxied in on the fusalage side no stress on the rootrib blocks as they are touching each other Hope the Pics explain what I am talking about. will upload some more photos of the cockpit later if this works out ok as it is my first post. Also posted a couple of pics of the trailer and Yac and Elan

If you need some samples for testing/measurement, I have some of the emitters (luxeon star footprint) doing nothing, can send you some if you want.

Pilots arrived here, got the 1:5 from Maffs cav: http://www.maffscav.de/

Shhh, she might read this
I'm a lousy pilot, but I have seen Henriette fly one of my trainers, not a pretty sight, so I figured I had to be in the front
Looking for a small-scale cookiebox, but none found so far

I guess these guys just do not stock parts.. buyer beware !!!!!!

Put another six flights on my Viper today. Cannot believe how slow this jet will land. The only problem I have is, the mains gear doors will not stay closed, even when flying quite slowly. I am thinking of removing them & just keeping the nose door. Anyone found a fix, perhaps by repositioning the door rams. Longer rams may be the answer, but I don't think they come any longer. This would allow the door fixing to be further along the door, giving better leverage. I don't fancy the magnet idea, but it may be the second last resort before I remove them.
Fitting the bypass (which I have) would also probably solve the problem. I also thought of reducing the amount of air coming into the fuz through the air intakes.mmmmm......

As a quick and easy fix, could you stick a small clear plastic 'deflector' in front of the main gear door? Just sufficient to push the airflow over the gap it would otherwise enter to blow the door open?

I've seen that happen on a few vipers. Looking at mine sat next to Ali's last week, mine has smaller diameter rams than his does. So i'm not holding my breath as wether they will stay closed or not. I might look at modifying the set up to give a better mechanical advantage

Blowing main doors as been an issue on most of the Vipers I have had to date. Looking at lets say my Airworld Hawk which has similar sized doors they are using a much ( Twice as ) bigger diameter ram on these doors.
I am of the opinion that it takes a heck of a load more power from the door rams to keep these big doors from sucking out in flight.
Regards Al

Regarding the doors that open in flight, it is nice that Skymaster keeps mounting the small Rams, that way all new Viperjet owners can have the same nice experience with the doors...

Jim, as Ali concurs with what I told you this morning, you need stronger rams (UP's or Robarts) and the problem will be solved. BTW, it was seven flights, not six Bring the Nano tomorrow to St. Barbara?

I don't think larger bore cylinders will work much better. On the Fei Bao Panther thread, Maj Woody had the same problem & fitted larger BVM cylinders with no improvement. The geometry of the door cylinders is all wrong. I have ordered some rare earth strong magnets, although I have some reservations regarding interference. I will try this & if it doesn't work, the mains doors are history.

dont worry we are on it.
carsten is taking care of a drawing for me ,
also we found some ready made lenses with direct input of power even with reversal protection.
so we are on it..

@ door rams

use LARGE cylinders , and good geometric best is to have the cyilinder 180 degrees on the horn
make the horn long so that the stroke is long.

Bad boy

I have the same problem on my Feibao Panther, I added some rubber bands to the main doors, helps a little, but I might try the "magnet fix" and see if that will cure it!
