Status: offline 		a lot of my friends have this thing on there phones where when you call them, instead of hearing a standard ring, you hear a song. for verison i think their called ringback tones. is that free and how can i get that on mine? thanks

Status: offline 		My brother does that. Its all in the phone. When you add numbers to your contacts you can choose to use the standard ringtone when that number calls or pick different one so when that number calls you plays something else.

Is that what you're talking about, or are you talking about having a song instead of the ring tones that come with the phone?

A lot of people in Greece do this, but I think it's a network thing, and as AutoXMan said, it's not free on some networks. I don't know how you actually do it, sorry I can't be much help there.

Oh, well that's easy. Its really more the phone than the network. We've done that with our phones and its free. All you need is a phone that lets you record a sound, then you just set the recorded sound as your ring tone.
I know for a fact the Motorola RAZR, LG Shine, and Sony ericson something phones (don't remember the name) can all record sounds.

No, he is talking about the sound that the person who calls you is hearing, not a ringtone id that you would hear from an incoming call. I got a friend that when I call him I hear a country song, and another I hear some rockshock jayhawk crap.

Status: offline 		its all about the network you are on they are called ringbacks not ringtones your carrier stores they on a server and when you number is dialed it goes threw their servers and plays music for the people calling you

you can also go to the store buy a brand new phone and the second they activate it you ringback is on there due to the fact ringback are not associated with your phone they are associated with your phone number

its kind of like the phone company has an operator that pushes play when your number is dialed only their operator is a computer
