Kirk RC -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 4:59:57 AM)

We all have voiced our opinion's so lets take a poll on the FX 91.
One vote per FX-91 owned.

1) Hate it
2) Love it
3) 50/50

I will keep tally. To start it off I own two and hate both !

SCORE.
2 for hate
0 for love it
0 for 50/50

Hobbsy -> Why (6/19/2003 5:08:07 AM)

I've never owned an OS, but why do you hate those two?

edgeguy -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 5:14:23 AM)

LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kirk RC -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 5:26:34 AM)

Hobbsy, There is an entire thread on the issues alot of people have with this engine. Mostly air leaks, hot runs. OS is usually a great product. This specific engine is up for graps, therefore the poll.

TimC -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 5:47:44 AM)

So far, love it. ( Now where's that crossed fingers smiley?)

Damnathius -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 6:40:42 AM)

I'll add my "it's a piece of undertested, troublesome doo doo" for the one I own.

bobf46 -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 7:41:58 AM)

Nothing but trouble with mine, leans out in flight, air leaks, tank position seems to be SUPER critical with this engine. Yes I know its critical with all engines but this one seems more sensitive than any other :(

daven -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 9:16:13 AM)

Put me down for 50/50.

Seems to run great on the ground.

I've only flown it on a plane twice, and I've had 1 dead stick.

Sounds like 50/50 to me.

Checklst -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 9:37:34 AM)

Kirk RC -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 12:35:27 PM)

so far the tally is,

Hate it: 4
Love it: 3
50/50: 1

Aero330LX -> They Suck...Air That Is hehe (6/19/2003 1:27:52 PM)

I hate 'em. I've worked ona friends so many time at the field it's not funny. Same as the above post...it runs like a top on the ground and then has a mind of it's own in the air. I suspect an airleak, but can't find the damned thing. I suggested a new needle assemble to the guy, and that didn't fix it, new gaskets didn't fix it, a piece of fuel line over the base of the needle didn't fix it. It's got good power it just won't stay in tune like it's sucking air somewhere. I think they oughta recall them, but as long as the thing has been out and as many of them that run like this, it doesn't look like that'll ever happen. That ain't a slam, they just need to make things things right. My freind is already out the money the engine cost, and now he's out the money it cost for the parts too. It's probably a dang case leak somewhere, but like I said, I'll be damned if I can find it.

Sprink -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 5:09:48 PM)

Love mine

(now that I have sorted all the problems.)

Never head it quit on me other than run out of fuel (over two years flying)

Just a shame those problems have given it a bad rep.

Sprink

bentgear -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 6:18:37 PM)

After 6 o'rings and then going to a Perry pump I love it.

Spicoli -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 6:48:38 PM)

djlyon -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 8:24:57 PM)

Love both of mine

Kirk RC -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 8:26:35 PM)

Looks like the tide has changed in favor of the 91. Heres a tally update: Hate it: 5
Love it: 10
50/50: 1

Spicoli mentioned that now that he knows how to fix them they run great, how about sharing a few ideas Mr Spicoli on how you fixed yours.

adrian-RCU -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 8:44:53 PM)

great engine. power to weight like nothing else!! love em

P-51B -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/19/2003 8:50:37 PM)

Love the one I have. Ran great right out of the box, never had a problem.

By the way, why not actually post this as a poll so you don't have to try to keep count?

Damnathius -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/20/2003 8:50:09 AM)

The poll does not really give an accurate representation of how many are/were problem engines. Perhaps it would have been better to ask how many didn't take work to make them run correctly.

Mine runs fine now also, but I cetainly am not happy with the fact that I wasted many, many hours trying to get it to run okay. If it takes a lot of work to make it run well, then in my opinion it's a piece of doo doo that just happens to run well.

Kirk RC -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/20/2003 9:32:01 AM)

Yes I would agree that a better question would of included a disclaimer on mods, excess time etc. If you read the comments it appears that 40-50% of the people that now "Love it" had to add after mkt mods and/or spend alot of time trouble shooting. Taking all that into consideration approx. 63% didnt run out of the box. IMO I would never buy a product that you have a less than 50/50 chance of it not working, regardless of the fact that you could maybe correct the problem.

Spicoli -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/20/2003 5:52:52 PM)

Kirk RC,
To get mine running well I used a fourstroke Perry Pump and a Perry aftermarket needle valve

Damnathius -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/20/2003 7:29:25 PM)

Looks like 10 so far that didn't run well out of the box. (no modifications)

I wonder if OS is listening.

Dukasso -> Lets take a poll on the FX 91 (6/20/2003 9:25:40 PM)

Love mine never had a problem, and is almost a year old now still powerful, clean and never dead stick landing
