The sky is the limit on what we do... We have done mail boxes to private jets... This economy has really takin it's tool on us... Not that we will go under... Don't get me wrong... I save for a rainy day... Perhaps that's why it's taking me so long to get the Beretta built LOL.... I have alot of over head to deal with in this line of business...

Here are a few shots of some of our work..

Well as always I have to many irons in the fire to keep the Beretta build thread updated... I'll be posting a complete list of things i have in the works for the Beretta this weekend... But i thought i would stop in and share an idea i have for the Beretta steering rack... Well after locating many types of gears/racks to build one, I had a change of mind.... I'm going to use a RV rack window crank... I got it a few days ago completely disassembled it.. drilled out the pop rivets... drilled the holes for bolts for mounting it,, which will also give me access to the gears to grease/service if needed... I don't think bump steer will be an issue with this unit... The input is very free with no binding what's so ever... And the rack has O friction... For a cast aluminum case it appears to be well designed..

I don't see why a unit like this wouldn't work... I've seen RV's that had there windows shut for years and these crank them open with ease...

Here are a few shots of it

Very smart!I have thought about how to make/where to buy something that you can convert to a steering rack for my own homebuild. But how are you going to power it?How many turns will it be lock-to-lock?I am sitting here thinking abot a winch servo or sail servo or something similar that travels more than 360 degr.,but you have maybe other things in mind

Now ya see, it's things like the window hardware, that I would never ever have thought of. Pure genius. Also, your an artist. Beautiful graphics work man, really I am impressed. Might have to send my bike out to ya to do some work on it!

Lars from Norway!!

I did a test on it today and the rack moves 1/2'' to 360 degr on input... I plan on mounting the servo behind the dash and it will connect to a servo horn at the column... This way the steering wheel will also turn in that direction as well... The servo wont be visible,,, As for getting more than 360 degr out of the servo goes... Not a prob... Just need to open the servo up and remove the gear with the mechanical stop on it and file it off.. Reassemble it and it should run continuously Left/Right... Woops almost forgot... Rather than reinstalling the servo arm i will install a 1.1 gear on it.. And the other one on the column shaft... there is know way around that as far as i know.. If i were to use the standard servo arm it still wouldn't rotate beyond 360 degree... Kinda the same set-up as a gear drive on a real automotive engine is... This way i could pretty much change the ratio as well if needed..

I did this many years ago to a servo and it worked great... Thing is i used it as an 12v motor with reverse... Gotta love ideas...

Soloratov!!

Long time no chat buddy.. How have you been doing? Get that beast of a machine built yet? Yeah i suppose you could say I'm an artist... Been at it a long time my friend... I even teach an airbrush class at the Elkhart carrier center now every other friday... What kind of bike do you own... I bought a new hog over the winter I'm currently getting ready for a wild paint job.. Not quite sure how wild i want to go with it yet... I've done alot of bikes over the years and at some point there is a limit on doing to much in such a small area to work in... Let me know buddy... I would be more than happy to do you a custom paint job on it... frame as well or just tank/fenders/misc

O.K. guys I've got the majority of the rear suspension done now... The rear shocks now have springs on them... And they work very freely... I haven't welded the spring retainers as of yet.. When i bored them to 3/4'' of a inch i under bored them a tad and pressed them onto the shock body.. They fit very tightly and i may not even need to weld them into place.. I'll cross that bridge down the road... I'm going to be getting all the sheet metal for the body here soon... Then I'll start forming it up, And building all the body mount tabs as well... The body is going to be a challenge if I've ever seen one...lol

Here are a few shots of the rear shocks... You'd never know they are actually automotive lift supports!!!

Man this project is so amazing! It makes me want to start working on my car again too

Using the window crank for the steering is an awsome idea.

Thanks again guys!

When i set out to build the Beretta i had one thing in mind... To build it as realistic looking as possible.. I now have the tubs tack welded in.. I over cut the width of the tubs to allow for the body / etc... Once i get going on the body i will trim them to fit as needed.. Here are a few shots... The rest are on my site!!

Update: I wasn't happy with this tube design so i cut them off and cleaned up all the weld,, I then focused on my new tube design.. there constructed from 22 gauge Cold Rolled Steel, There attached via 1/8'' pop rivets.. I still need to trim the metal along the chsssis tubes and clean / seal the inner tubes but other than that there done! As you may have noticed i didn't spend alot of time cleaning up the welds along the seams.. Why! Because there will be cloth attached to the tubs that will match the interior and they won't be visible.. Now if i were going to go with a sheet metal interior look it would be a different story.. There is more shots of them on my site! http://www.quarterscaleprostreetberetta.com/Tubs.html

Well other than sealing the inside of the tubs there now done.. I'm going to seal them with..Fusor 803EZ.. http://www.lord.com/Home/ProductsServices/Adhesives/FusorAutomotiveAftermarketProducts/Products/SealersFoams/tabid/3402/Default.aspx

I use the two part fusor quite often at the shop and this stuff is awesome... I will also use this on the body panels once i get around to building it...I am currently working on the rear chassis welds while i await the fusor... Here are a few shots of what it currently looks like... It don't look like much yet, but it's starting to take shape... I'm hoping to get started on the body after the holidays... busy busy busy... BTW... I'm also building a casting furnace so i can start casting parts...

Did i mention I'm BUSY...lol

Once all the trimmings are on the frame, are you going to powder coat it, or paint it at work?

Black, I am assuming?

Looking good mate, glad to hear work has picked up for you, too.

We haven't been doing any cars for awhile and was forced to get back into repairing cars once again... I have a very well established name around here so I'm at least thankful of that...
