I am going to try to understand the jumble of words here.

The cap strips are 3/32”x1/4”x24” balsa sticks and are centered flat on top of the ribs to make them flush with the rest of the sheeting.

They should be in the rubber-banded stack of sticks, they are in the same stack that the T.E sheeting came in.

Thank you. You are doing great but I would love to see more posting and photos on your build. Attached is a rib with a cap strip and one without to show you what a cap strip is. Make sure the strip is centered on the rib.

Top and bottom LE and TE sheeting installed, Installed bottom center sheeting, holes cut for landing gear and servo. Manual says to sheet between rib #1 and rib #3 we extended the sheeting to rib #4 for support of the servo mount.

Looking good wzak29. When you glue in the cap strip on the outer edge of the servo hole DO NOT CENTER IT on the rib like you did the others. This one must be made flush with the inner side of the servo hole so that the servo can slide in and out.

Question wzak29: Should we sheet the top of the wing as the manual instructs, ending at rib 3? Or should we do it as we did the bottom, ending at rib 4?

Two reasons why I think we should do it the same is #1, the appearance would look neater. And #2, the servo wire would run smoother down the tube if it meets sheeting on the top compared to the wire hitting covering when it comes out the tube.

I don't know how much 3/32 sheeting you can get, but I can not do the top center sheeting until I get more wood. It's a good thing we are using .46s for power, this wing is no lightweight.

Installed rib caps on top and bottom, removed all jig tabs, installed wing tip and braces. cut hole in servo tube for wire.

Next step is to give the wing a good sanding then I will built the other wing. I will not be documenting the build of the other wing since it will be the same building process. My next posting will be the joining the two wing half’s.

Perhaps you should not do any sanding yet until the wing halves are joined. Might not be uniform to each other if you do them before joining.

Photo 1: Center line marked on joiners
Photo 2 & 3: Test-fitting joiners
Photo 4 & 5: Wing tip glued in place

OK, now onto the other wing panel. Leave the center top sheeting so we can join the panels later.

I would have to say that the last pictures just answered your previous question.  The joiner doubler mentioned in step 5 of sheeting the top LE and TE is the forward or aft dihedral brace.

I am just going to sand/shape the tip and LE sheeting I will do the rest after joining. Am I using to much glue your wing looks much cleaner than mine?

No your doing fine, a little extra glue won't hurt nothing. Whatever is on the outside will sand fine, what's on the inside won't ever be seen.

Excess glue adds weight. These things build heavy, in the first place.

OK!!! So I have all the ribs, spars,  L.E, T.E, and dowel supports glued onto the 2nd panel.

Have to go out for awhile but will be back to it later this afternoon.

Ending at 11:30 pm with bottom sheeting, servo mount and tube, shear webs, and landing gear rail in place and glued.

How far are you into the 2nd panel, wzak29?

Are both servo wires going to come out of one hole in one wing or will there be a hole in each wing?

A small hole in each wing panel just big enough to pass the wire through. No bigger than 1/2". Reinforce around the hole with a scrap piece of 3/32" sheet. Pass the servo wire through the tube and out the exit hole a few times as if the wing was covered to see if it slides smoothly through. Do not worry if you can not see the tube after sheeting. All you need to be able to do after the wing is finished is to be able to reach the servo wire into the tube opening, it should slide smoothly the entire way, you will probably need needlenose pliers to pull the wire out of the exit hole. Then the Y-harness connects the two servo wires together and then plugs into the receiver as one.

P.S: DO NOT glue the wing center TE until after the panels are joined, and remember to skip the torque rods steps. Do you have enough sheeting yet to sheet the rest of the wing?

Why can’t we have both wires coming out of one hole in one wing half?

The only thing I have to do is install rib caps, I test fitted the wing half’s it looked good.

Because of ribs 1 and because we need the y-harness to make them operate as one.

quote:

I just now glued the wing tip on and I have cap strips left. When everything is dry completely I will test fit the two halves and then find out when you are ready to join the two. Remember not to cover the top center, we need to get inside for the joiners. And when we do the T.E skip the torque rod steps and wait for me to show pics on what to do, OK?

Waiting for wing tip to dry then will install rib caps, might be ready to join tomorrow, but I won’t until I see photos from you.
