Refresh my memory. Are there going to be stringer strips running between the "B" formers ? If so there should be plenty of strength. They appear to be notched for stringers.

Yes, 1/8x3/8 stringers. So, yes you are correct about not needing epoxy, I assumed wrong. Thank you.

I will not be using the nose gear assembly I purchased with the separate gear and axle. Did not like and could not get the axle to slide onto the landing gear wire, hope you have better luck wzak29. Instead I will be using this prebent nose gear I had laying around.

I tested the fit on the plane and all looks fine.

What nose gear is it you are having trouble with?

Was there a small burr on the end of the gear leg that could be filed off? If you shortened the leg a larger burr may have been formed that would need filing down. A very slight taper/bevel on the tip should have fixed the problem I am envisioning. Of course it may be something else I am not seeing. A Dremel cut-off wheel would make short work of the above problems and also shorten the leg if needed.

I did not cut the landing gear wire but I did sand it anyways, still could not budge the axle onto it so gave up, I like prebent so I was lucky to have one that would work.

But I need to let wzak29 know if this landing gear straight wire shown needs to be cut down. I tried to find a prebent 8" landing gear online to try to persuade wzak29 to buy one in place of the straight one that he is using (that is what I found to work great, a 8") but I could not find one. Towerhobbies has none, hobby-lobby and Great Planes and Dubro can't find any either.

Some gear are NOT specified as TOTAL length like I think you are using. What is the length below the coil or below the center of the coil. For instance see how the length is specified for this nose leg http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXH126&P=ML or this one http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD842&P=7 where it says 6-1/2" long but also 2-3/4" from top.

How long do you need below the coil and what is the minimum above the coil? Remember that you can always cut the top off a little if too long but in many planes too long isn't a problem.

4 1/2" beneath the coil is needed, 3 1/2" above the coil max, definitely can not be less than 3" above the coil. Which would be the one wzak would need? wzak29, I highly recommend using a prebent landing gear.

While waiting to order the motor I will be doing small steps such as wheel pants, control surfaces and anything else I can find to do, not to mention all that sanding and filling

I went ahead and assembled the wheel pants. Good thing I did because I found out that the groove in the pants for the landing gear wire was designed for a taildragger, and since we are building a tricycle gear they will have to be modified.

photo 1, 2: Built the wheel pants, carefully wicked thin CA into the seams while keeping the sides together with masking tape.
photo 3 - 6: Wheel pants installed.
photos 7, 8: Discovered the front of the wheel pants were too close to the floor. Wrote RCU and found out about the grooves being designed for taildragger. Will have to be modified. So I had to rip out the ply behind the groove and fill in the groove and holes.
photo 9: Starting the mods of the wheel pants last night. Mixed 3 parts MicroBalloons to 1 part 30-minute epoxy, filled in the landing gear wire grooves, holes that were drilled for the wires, and the screw holes. Waiting overnight while it dries.
photo 10, 11: Speed ahead to a new day. Micro Balloon mixture sanded nice and smooth. But I think I will need a thin layer of bondo to smooth it out better.

I will keep you up to date on the mods as they are completed.

Photo 1: New backing plates glued in.
Photo 2: Outer wheel support doubled.
Photo 3: Outer wheel support that I doubled has been trimmed down to still hold the wire but allow room for the wheel and two wheel collars.
Photo 4: Modified wheel pant installed. I now need to use a U-shape landing gear strap to hold it in place as there is no longer a groove.
Photo 5: Modified wheel pant installed.
Photo 6: Before mod.
Photo 7: After mod. Finally level on the floor.

Now it's on to the right wheel pant.

2nd wheel pant is now complete. Now that the mods are done I will be putting a hold on the build until wzak29 catches up. I will not do anything until I hear from him that he has done the hinging, engine mount attached to firewall, landing gears, and fuselage servos.

Make sure that spinner back plate is 4 15/16" from the firewall.

I need an update of how far you are so I can continue with my build when my Magnum XLS-46 arrives.
When you have completed the following let me know so I can continue with the build.
1) Main landing gears mounted on wing
2) Nose gear installed
3) Elevator and rudder hinges installed
4) Wheel pants built. You will probably need my help in these as they had to be modified for tricycle gear.
5) Top of your wing center sheeted

I know you haven't ordered your hinges, sheeting and other stuff yet. And I just sent out my donations to you today so you can't do the wheel pants, wheels and other things yet but please let me know when you have. Until you have done all that I will be working on my scratch build.

Sometimes you need/want to turn one of your servos around in the mount to give more clearance between the arms if needed. Keep as an option if needed later.

Back plate is 15/16 from firewall, can’t install main landing gear until I get the sheeting for the top ordered it today. Waiting on nose gear, waiting for nylon hinges and new blades for my hinge slot machine. I also ordered a guide tool for the hinge slotting machine from advantage I will let everyone know how it works. I am going to need a lot of help doing the wheel pants, do I need to buy some Bondo or some kind of filler to fix the pants? Should receive everything early next week I will get to work as soon as it arrives and will return the fuel tank.

Yes, bondo will be needed to fill in the dings and scratches that are too small for the micro balloons. Use the micro balloons I am sending you to fill in the landing gear grooves in the pants. Those grooves are designed for taildragger and will push the nose of the pants too close to the floor when used with tricycle gear so I will go step by step with you with the mods.

Could not send you any bondo due to shipping issues (it is flammable and highly toxic).

You will need these gear straps after the mods are completed. Easier than trying to get the straight ones to bend over the landing gear. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD841&P=7
