Crashed a nice airplane on its' maiden flight.
Might have had the CG too far forward. I had a YS 140 , 2 lipos and an 18 oz tank in front of the wing tube, maybe the Cg was an 1 1/2" in front of the recommended location.
Put the dual rates on 50 % and took off. I got some altitiude, about 25 ' ,then it just nosed in .....even with full back stick.
Luckily it went in wings level, so the wings are virtually undamaged. Just need a fuse and rudder. Very little damage to the gear.
Next time full rates and the CG dead on!

Sorry that happened.  It's a pretty airplane.

Doesn't sound like the crash was caused by the CG.  Were you at full throttle?  Did you set the elevators for proper factory low rates?

Your airplane quit flying.  You had enough lift to get 25' with the CG, therefore no reason you shouldn't continue to climb and get another 25'.

I'd be looking at other possible causes.

It would take more than a forward cg to do that.  Especially at take off, as long as you didn't have a loss of power it should be ok.  There had to be something else to just nose in like that.

how much trow was on your elevator?  Factory reccommended specs?  if so, that would be one reason for nosing in.  As your cg moves forward, to get the same control rates in your elevator you'll need to increase it's throw and vice versa for a CG too far back.  Though too far back is much more critical..(found that out the hard way)

on my seagull edge 540 (close enough in size for a compairison) I had the CG about 12mm-12mm too far back and it made the plane wild...Of course, this made for great 3D, but since it was a madien flight...not good.  Crashed...mainly due to CG beeing out.... a bad cross wind helpd.

Next time you put one together stick with the reccommended GG.  .5" forward or back will make plenty of difference.

just an after thought.  What about up elevator?  I'd think that with a CG too far forward you'd need a little up elevator to keep the nose flying level....was there any?
