Hi again,

My friend Jesus Ramos who lives in Guadalajara, not far from Madrid, has been designing and building nice sport-scale RC autogyros for some time now. His first scale model was an IC powered Kellet KD-1 which flew well, a bit too fast. Last year Jesus switched to electric power and he quickly built an electric version of his KD-1 which flew better than the old IC powered one (see photo). His most recent models are a tiny Cierva C-6bis and a Pitcairn PCA-2. The C-6  employs a LaHeli DC head & control system and was first flown with a 3-bladed rotor; recently a 4-blade rotor with flapping hinges has been fitted and flown successfully. The PCA-2 (the well-known "Miss Champion"of the thirties, also flown by Steve Pitcairn in recent years) weighs 1500 grams (53 oz) and has a four blade rotor 110 cm (43.3 ") in diameter and flapping hinges; in my opinion its most important  feature concerns the control system: the model is controlled by ailerons / elevator / rudder just like its full size counterpart  (rotor head is a fixed-spindle one).

    Regards,
Emilio Cabezas

Some more photos...including the PCA-2 rotor head, first tested on the Kellet model.

Emilio,

Please extend my congrats to Jesus on a fine job.  The PCA-2 is probably my favorite autogyro, and Jesus has done an outstanding job replicating the full size version.  Thanks for sharing the great pictures!
