sorry...I misunderstood. I thought you said that you had used the 600S motors at some point.

GP cells? What are those? I thought Venoms were supposed to be pretty good.

No i used the S600 motors in another RC aplication...but they are the same line motors ferite magnets...

GP cells are way better than venom ceels actually in all the normal RC boards venom packs are considered to be total junk.

here is a GP pack

Good to know...thanks.

I've been using the Tenergy battery packs. They're definitely better than the HL yellow sticks. Don't know how they compare to anything else, though.

Actually in the RC world those tenergy batterys are garbage also and explode all the time in normal RC 1/10 cars.

I bet this would give it some speed and power these have ferrite magnets they give motors much more power.

Shen:

One critical problem with those 400's... they might have a timing advance built in so they run better in the directed rotation (even if tower does not note it) See the 600's for both normal and R(everse) rotation versions (3 degree advance is noted). Without a reverse-rotation on the other side of the tank, one side is gonna perform badly. You need either both at 0 advance, or one positive/one negative (equal advance in both directions, of course) In this case, motor matching is beneficial, to get the same low-end & high-end on both motors.

For those who think I'm talking greek - timing advance is when the motor end-bell (and consequently the motor brushes) is rotated in one direction or the other away from dead centre, to make the motor run better. This will also make it run worse in reverse.

We buggy/onroad racers often tuned our motors to run where the RPM-whine was the highest (most dinna have a dyno) but the amp-draw was the lowest. This made our race-packs last the longest, though some advanced it a bit more, and took the risk of their packs dumping within 10-15 seconds of the end of a 4-min race heat, hopefully ~after~ if they'd guaged it right...

just FYI...

Does anyone know if these have that timing advance? Or how it could be tested?

Yea your right this may just be as i can see on the motors can it shows a arrow showing motor rotation so it probably is advanced timing... but you may able to use a stock HL endbell and put it on the motor in place of the stock one.
