I have a sig wonder new in box and was wondering about lighning it up to power it with the .10. Any sugestions? I have 4 hs-55's and a micro reciever to use. I usually build these for big engines, had one with a .25 and a .30, and do not have allot of experience with the little airplanes. Any help would be appreciated, Mike

What weight would I need to get it to? And are my servoes enough?

I have powered my 10yr old wonder with a worn out 10fp, a conquest 15, a norvell 15,, and os 25, and a 40 fp.  The wonder was built bone stock with hs-81 servos.  The best flying version were 15 powered.  The added power of the larger engines did not seem to add very much speed, but made landing speeds much higher as well as making general flying not as fun.  I have seen other 10 powered wonders and they seem to fly much the same as my 15 powered one.  My 10fp is just a pos, but it would fly  the plane, although without any vertical power.

I would go with HS-81's. I can see the 55's getting stripped. Just build it as light as you can. Remember, the idea is not to save an ounce in one place, the idea is to save a gram in 28 places.

After building a stock one with an LA .15 for flyinrog, I scaled the plans up 12% and built one for an LA .25. It's no bullet, but it will glide across the field. I have an Enya .25X with a pipe that I want to put in it, but I need to rotate the mount 45° to sling the pipe under the wing.

Had one with a .10fp and full size radio gear.  It will fly, but you will want more power.  It will fly a loop from level, but if you try to stretch the loop it will start to fall out in the top.  Put an la .15 on it, was perfect for about 20 seconds until the radio battery died and it augered in the ground.  I think the .15 would have been perfect.  The plus to the .10 is how quiet it is though.

When the Wonder came out, my Dad went full retard on them. He built .10 sized, 2 .15 sized ones, 2 .25 sized ones, and one .10 twin engine.  For sport flying, the .15's were the best IMO as the OS .10FP was marginal. The .25 sized ones were a real ball! Just plain bearing engines, but they went straight up and were very fast. He learned from these two that Wonders really need a rounded leading edge because he lost one or two after pitch stability in dives. With the .25's it was anytime they were flown at full power.

Thanks. It's transparent Worldtex (same thing as Solartex).

The prices have really gone up over last year or so. It used to be $14 a roll.

Just keep it light, pick your wood carefully.  The 10 FP's are great little sport engines but no miracles for performance.

Mine is in a trainer I built for my daughter from a plan in a book.  The model is called a Pronto trainer & originally designed for a 35!

Built light with small radio gear it flys fine on the 10. - John.

Keep us updated on the progress.
I have an almost new FP .10. I've been looking for a home for it for ages. I'd be interested to see how your project goes.
Take plenty of pics

Cool, I went the other way and scaled down.  My normal sized one was powered by an OS .25 FP.  Small - Norvel AME .061. Mini - Cox .010.

Well here is what i have so far. Lighting of the ribs, starting weight is 1 oz ending 3/4 oz. I also built the fuse last night, Just did that per plans but used as little glue as possible. I am going to drill some holes in the stab and fins also.

I wouldn't go with the HS-55s either.  If you want sub micros, I'd go with HS-65HBs because of the Karbonite gears.  I hear Boba Fett uses them.
