Very nice paintjob. The body on mine didn't turn out so well and I have yet to mount it (one of these days ). Been driving bodyless.

I have this 1999 Subaru Impreza 22b made from Tamiya, I know it's rare as in its condition. I'm contemplating on selling it. I'm gonna sell it with original rims, tires, and the people inside the car. all brand new never been assembled. how much should I sell it for?

I am looking at getting a brushless set up on my DF03RA, I am fairly new with electric rcs' and am not to familiar with brushless motors I have tried to search but got watoo much to filter through.

1.  Do i need a sensored or sensorless motor?  Is there a big difference between them?
2. What KV or turn should i go with? I will be running NiMH batteries
3. The DF03ra doesnt have much room and i would like to install the esc without modification to the car,  is there one that will fit without mods.

Cheers

1.Either one will work fine. The only difference in performance is that sensorless ones make "cog"(where it hesitates a little on acceleration) a bit and sensored shouldn't do that at all.
2. Anything in the 3000-4000kv range is a good place to start.

Hello this is my first post on this site after a ton of lurking when i was deciding what car i wanted.  I finnally went for the df03ra in the evo x version and have been really enjoying it with just the stock electronics and and a nimh battery. But id like to start upgrading it by starting with a brushless motor and a slipper clutch and then some aluminum or alloy steering components cause i can tell mine are allready starting to have more flex then id say is good after a few runs with it.  For a brushless motor i was looking at this one http://www.hobbypartz.com/96m213-3660-3000kv-8t.html or this one http://www.hobbypartz.com/96m207-3660-2600kv-9t.html and then one of the hobbywing esc on that site, im not sure which one though, think i should go with the 35a one or go for broke and get a 60a esc so that ive got room to grow with this vehicle or any other vehicle i may put it into some day?  Do you guys think that those motors would be to much for this car? id like it to be as fast as i need it since im not afraid of turning down the motor if i feel that its to much for what ever im driving on. also whats a good site for hopup parts for this car?  Ive only seen a few and they were shipping out of china which i prefer to stay away from if its not to difficult.

Personally the cheapest motor I'd buy would be a hobbywing ezrun, but that's your choice. The car should be fine brushless with a properly set slipper clutch.

I often buy from ebay sellers as they usually have the lowest prices and they have seller location on there. Other online shops I use are rc planet, tower hobbies, and stormer. I've heard good things about amain, although I haven't bought from them yet.

Hi, I'm not pro or anything but if speed is all you are looking for than this is not it.
Theoretically the highest gearing (FDR 7.161) could give you 24MPH (38.7KPH). URC gave it good review but the tech specs don't seem to stack up for me ie. both 8T and 9T have same max power 1200W which would be great coincidence. The power measured in URC review was most likely incidental peak power rather than rated power (I could bet he didn't use 100A+ ESC). If you look at NOVAK motors specs, power is much lower for similar turn motor. Power of their motors can be found here: http://www.teamnovak.com/products/brushless/motor_spec_chart.htm
If Tacon motor has the power they claim it has it would give you tonnes of torque that you couldn't use for anything else than spinning your slipper clutch.
If you want to drive this thing like 50MPH realistically you should look for something like 5.5T ~7500KV. I'd discourage you from doing that as the drive line in this car is not armored.
I'm using LRP combo Eraser 10.5T motor with A.I. PRO ESC and it's plenty fast. Maybe not good enough for touring track races but this car is not built for it anyway.

If I was to choose again I'd look for something in the region of 5000KV 7.5T/8.5T sub 300W. Choose brand that is economical and common in your region.

EDIT: fixed link

It isn't going to be the motor of choice... but I took the motor out of my rustler VXL, switched the wires around to point out, did some trimming and ended up with a speed machine. Love all the new found power I have with this car. It is, however, a big DIY job. I think I posted up pictures somewhere in this thread at one point (was like a year ago).

Only problem... I keep burning through those front universal shafts for the front wheels... they aren't breaking, I just keep running into things and popping the wheel off and then loosing those things. I think they have some kind of invisibility coating on them...

You mean dog bones? Universals have a cv style joint at the wheel side, which wouldn't allow the shaft to come loose unless you removed the wheel, hex and pin.
Sedan universals generally look like one of these.

Upgrading to universals should help with this problem, or you could paint your dog bone shafts florescent orange or some bright color to help you find them. A rap of orange tape would help you find them too, without being as time consuming or messy as painting them.

Being able to have something like that would be great, I'll need to look for them. I'm tired of loosing those things! Thanks!

Edit: Is Universals a name or are you just saying "universal CV joints" because I can't seem to find them in the big wide interwebs (but I suck at searching).

It's the type of joint; universal joint. A CV(standing for "constant velocity")joint is pretty much the same thing.
I don't think that they make universals for the df03ra specifically, but from what I've read ones for the tt01, ta04, tl01, and tb01 chassis are the same as the df03ra. Don't get theoens where the hex fits to the shaft with splines, though, you want the pin type ones. Fortunately most of the ones available are pin type.

hello,
just wanted to share my experience with the df03ra's, i recently bought 1 Evo X kit for my 4 yearolds birthday, he has subaru models in all scales starting from 1:64 diecasts to 1/8 slash mounted rc.
the built was quick and easy, i had a VXL kit laying aroung so i didn't bother with the stock motor or esc, i went with the HPI 190mm body since all '07 wrc subies were out of stock, i figured he will beat the $^$% out of this body anyway. he loved it on his birthday but my 6 year old had a panic attack why he has the big truck (slash 4x4) and his his brother has big and small. so i finally found '07 subaru at micromacromundo.com and got 2nd one within a week, same built same electronics,(vxl), i used the evo X body for this one saving the 07 for later.
since that we slapped some extra alluminium parts, LED kits and slipper clutches, i have 6 2s 5300mah from gens and they fit perfect.
i put a total of 28 leds on the evo police car, and it was too late for the HPI body for the light buckets so i just drilled the holes in the body. these are smart lights (acc, brake, reverse  and turn).
love the cars they are plenty on the 2s with the vxls.
let me know what you guys think.

Great collection of DF-03Ra's the VXL is a great system to throw in. I've built two DF-03Ra's....sold one just to regret it and bought the exact same one again LOL!

I'm digging that Evo NYPD beast! Love the push bar and the light bar!!

Here's my Pete Solberg r/c collection from 1/18 Audley r/c, 1/10 Tamiya DF-03Ra waterproofed CC 5700kv, 1/8 Slash 4x4 Platinum waterproofed

I would have thrown lights onto the 1/8 but with no light buckets I think it would look cheesy so I left them alone...I'm considering getting another rally....the XV-01 Pro is sweeeet!

i had a different direction with the slashes as my kids were 5 and 3 when they got them. they need to readjust allitle for the df's as you cannot treat tem like slashes, and they wil not go up 4 or 6 inch curbs.
