Status: offline 		Did the maiden flight on my new bipe this weekend. Three flights on Sat with 20 to 25 mph winds and it was great! It has a Saito 91s with a 15x6 apc prop. Not enough speed and only 8400 rpm but it does fly nice. Flew it 4 more times on Sun in only 3 to 7 mph winds. the roll rate is awesome, cant count the spins. Landing is a non event, just hold elevator until you want to touch down and that’s about it. I did let a friend fly it and now he won't even talk to me, mad he doesn’t have one. Great plane, glad I destroyed my mono because it made me buy this one.

Does ay body think a 14x6 or a 14x4w would be better?

The saito 1.25 seems to gyro torque the heck out of it...P-factor...

I think a lightweight .82 would also work, as it puts out almost same as a strong .91...but not sure on balance....
This is a really sharp aircraft....
I would love to see one in a 35-50cc size for around 450$....
It would be a killer combo...

Status: offline 		Bdegan, are you using the BEC on that speed control? I'm thinking seriously of ordering the plane and using the same basic power setup you are. I saw you were getting 10 minute flights; how much were you putting back into the 5000mah packs? Reason is, HK has some 6S 4000's too that are about 5 ounces lighter that I was considering...

Yes I am using the built in BEC on 6S. have been flying it since last fall with no issues.
I currently fly it with an 18x8 apc. Tons of power and balistic verticle.
After 10 hard minutes I put back 2700 to 3200 depending on how windy the day was.
I can easily do 12 minutes on this setup in this plane. The batteries come out of the plane cool.

I have the same motor and ESC in the new Funtana 125. I use the same batteries and spin a 20x8 Xoar. I do 10 minutes on this one and put back 3800.
I have since gon down to a 19x8 Xoar and put back between 3200 and 3500 after 10 solid minutes of mixed IMAC and 3D

Status: offline 		Cool, thanks. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on the setup this week. Probably will try the 4000mah 6S first and order a couple of those packs with the motor and speed control.

Status: offline 		If you can save some weight on the batteries, and save some weight on the motor mounting.
You will save mah's during a 10 minute flight and the plane will fly better to.

Status: offline 		Plane's on order; gonna use Tower TS110 digital minis in the wing, and some Hitec 225MG's I have laying around for elevator, and maybe a Hitec 5485 digital on the rudder. Batteries I want are on backorder, so will have to wait a bit on the motor/esc/batt order...

Its been a while. This thread was buried on page 3.

I am thinking of trying something different with the bipe.

Thinking of trying the new DLE-20 that will be coming out soon.
It is small and light compard to my electric setup, and puts out some good numbers.
My other bigger planes are gas. It would simplify what I need to carry with me. But I thought it would be fun to try something different.

Status: offline 		Got mine and have the elevator and rudder hinged, working on mounting the motor and getting the wing servos/wings installed. Hope to maiden in the next week or two; work and family medical issues have kept me from getting it done quicker.

Bdegan, I think it was on another site, but there are some pics somewhere of someone installing another brand 20cc gasser. That new DLE sounds pretty cool and powerful! Keep us posted.

Status: offline 		I remember seeing that. I think it was a Zenoah G20 or CRRC 26. It was a heavier set up than this DLE20.
Jody from Valleyview has done a bunch of prop testing. Looks Promising. Also Marco from Aeroworks has reported they have done testing with it on their 60-90 Extra 300.
They liked a 17x6 prop the best on that combo. They liked it enough they are making an Addendum to the manual and making the templates
For mounting it. Now I just need to find some sort of canister exhaust for it to quiet it down a touch.
But the stock muffler looks like it will fit inside the cowl. Should make for a clean look and install.

THe 15$ rebate is over....but the 259$ still sits in my basket... but still have to spen 40$ to get the 60$ off..deal.
Yeah...the DL 20 deal....
NOt bad if it pulls the 17X6 ....My OS 1.20AX piped pulled it 11,000 RPM's
I think they have the Dl20 as 9,200rpms?

Either way....
Only do a 4-stroke at my nearby socker field....
THat stock Dl or Zenoah muffler is A HECKLER>.....asking for trouble....

It sounds like you should treat this plane like a 1.20 size.???

To get the LOW torque....I would use my Saito 1.25...

Byron fuel has a NEW blend that sounds terrific....
Want to try it out...

Status: offline 		Had mine nearly ready to maiden last weekend, but had issues with my Tower TS110 digitals . One quit working completely, the other started jittering and seems to have stripped a gear, all on the bench! Had some Hobbico CS12mg's for another project; hijacked them and got my ailerons done. Has anyone had any issues with the aileron clearance on the bottom wing to the fuse on the left? Mine lightly scrapes the side of the fuse; I'm not sure why, as the factory wing bolt holes, dowels, etc all are pre-drilled and everything seems to line up fine otherwise. Is the gap on the left tighter than on the right for p-factor or some other reason?

Also, did a quick test of my power system: same as Bdegans, Turnigy 5065SK/85A ESC, and a 17x8 APC. Getting about 47amps and 1000watts. Bdegan, did you change any timing settings on your ESC? Seems to have plenty of pull, but I'm down a bit on watts. Using Turnigy 3300's...

Status: offline 		The 17x8 will fly it and hover. Pulls out but not a hard pull.
What brand prop is it ?

I have been using an APC 18x8 for the last while. I found it to be the best overall prop for me.
Verticle is really strong and pull out from a hover is fast and accelerates.
I am pulling mid 70's for amps. Everything is luke warm after 10 minutes and I never really exceed 65-70% of the battery capacity after 10 to 12 minutes of flying.

Status: offline 		Using an APC 17x8; I have an 18x8 to try also, but man, there's not much clearance for that one! Maiden complete this morning before work; flies very nice. Only needed one click of aileron trim and two clicks of elevator. Balanced on the middle mark suggested; weighed 7lb 5oz ready to fly. Using Turnigy 3300 6S; flew 6 minutes and batt's on the charger now. Looks like each cell was at about 3.78V, so I won't get much more time than that out of them. Would like to try some 4000mah packs later this fall when I get some more funds.

Status: offline 		Flew it twice more last nite; once more with 17x8 and then with the 18x8. 18" definitely has more pull. Recharged both my 3300 packs before hand, and tested both with wattmeter. Getting approx 1200W/57A with the 17" and 1400W/62A with the 18". Happier now! Both flights approx 7 minutes; put back about 2100-2200mah in each pack last nite, so these packs will do for now.

Status: offline 		Here's a pic of my Reactor Bipe and my Reactor 50, along with another club member's smaller Reactor bipe. Got about 15 flights now on my bipe, and really like it. I get about 8 minutes on the 3300 packs; I have two 4000mah packs that should be showing up any day now...

Status: offline 		OK, after much consideration and talking to people on and of the forum, I have filtered down my choices for my next 3D airplane to betweer the Reactor Bipe and H9 Showtime 50. Both of these are quire good (with suitable strengthening), but I can purchase only one. Though the Showtime is cheaper, due to Tower discounts and including customs & shipping, pricing works out to nearly same. Please suggest which of these two is the better and why

Status: offline 		Standard might be a little small I use DS821's and they work good. This plane has an unreal roll rate and can 3d like no other bipe. If you intend on kickn' this plane around go stronger! I fly mone with Saito 91 now but plan on a dle 20 soon for winter.
