Hey! Does anyone know of a vinyl material that looks like scale deck planking? Something that looks like that decal that comes with the Kyosho Fairwind 900?

I want to make part of the upper deck on the Fairwind I have look like wood, but don't want to go to the trouble of painting it.

I have tried looking at craft shops in the doll house department, but no luck.

I don't how it would work or how long it would last, but I have seen woodgrain decals used on cars and for hobby use.

I bet you could cut it into strips and then apply it in rows.

(Search on woodgrain decal for more info...)

I thought about that, but being water slide, I think it would come off rather quickly.

I don't think that auto decals (stripeman.com) are water slide, since they are made to go on the side of cars.

Silly me I only, I only looked at the last link! That 3m vinyl might work, and they sell it in 1/2' strips in addition to wider versions!

If you try it, let me know how it works. That might be an interesting way to spruce up an otherwise dull boat.

Take a look at dollhouse suppliers. They sell flooring.

How's about using (*gasp*) wood? Decking isn't that hard.

And, I think you can get small pieces of veneer at home depot-type stores.......
