You know how they say, "If you're wondering whether you should go flying or not, stay home." They aren't kidding...

The weather here in New Jersey has been horrible this spring. Something like 42 out of the last 47 days it has rained. I just had to get out today... I'm thinking about quiting planes and starting to build arks...

Anyways, here's what happens when you fly in the face of wind gusts with trees near your final approach. This was the third flight of the day and I figgered I could squeak this last one in...

I know what you mean, it always seems to happen when you think to yourself, just one more flight, then I will go home...

and starting to build arks...

We get the weather first (here in West Tennessee) then send it up to yawl in N.J. Just watch the national weather forcasts and you'll see that this is true!

Anyway... I've got the plans for the ark on Auto Cad for $1000 if your interested I've just about finished mine! I'm glad that I live on a hill.

Regards
JIm

NEVER say Just one more flight........... That's when the gremlins bite. ALWAYS say I think I'll fly again..... That confuses the gremlins and they think you're not ready to go home yet.

Tripacer,
Would you mind running those clouds through a towel before sending them up here? I don't mind the clouds, they make visibility of the plane easier sometimes, but the rain has to go.

Jim,

I'll give that a try. Next weekend should mark the maiden flight of a scratch built bipe. Don't want to lose that one...

Ed

in full scale flying the phenomenon (sp?) is called get-homitis. the bush pilot decides ohh i just want to get home, so he flys in adverse conditions and kills himself

Don't ever say i'm going to have just one more flight. you say i'm going to fly it again. Saying i'll just squeak in one more flight did it , that's all you got one more flight. That is superstition if you believe in it like the guys at our field.
Good luck , and hope it stops raining soon. Gary

my sentiments exactly. I stuffed my ultra stik 60 on the last flight of the day. I actually came down and decided to go back up on the runway. Well I had enough fuel but not enough battery power. up she went...roll right and straight in! ooops.

I wanted to let you know that it's my fault it has been raining so much this year, at least that's what the guys at my club have told me

We have been in a drought for the past few years. Then, the year I decide I to learn how to fly, we get well over twice the average amount of rain.

So, blame me, it's all my fault!

That's amazing. How come the BIG crash is always the last flight of the day.

Along the lines of "...it was in the LAST place I looked!" Did ya ever keep looking after you found it!

My father always told me that you say "I think I will fly 2 more times, then you fly once and pack up and go home" !! hehe

Nevertheless, you should NEVER say "I'll fly one more time".
Also, If you take a picture of you're plane before you fly it, you'll crash it. If you dont take a picture of it, you'll crash it. LOL

if any fellow flyer say "come on then, get her up i wanna see it" or if he was too late and you've packed it away, DONT! get it out, or fly it. at this point put it away for the rest of the day. also, never admit that you've had a good time on this plane and would consider its had a goof life if it died today. and never admit last flight, "i'll have another will do"
personal experiance on all over the above
That is superstition if you believe in it like the guys at our field.
Gary,
This is NOT superstition, it is cold, hard fact! :

Anyone with any RC aircraft experience knows full well to NEVER, EVER say, "just one more flight". The RC gods will absolutely make sure that's what you get.

Philly,
Having someone ask you to fly it almost got me a few weeks ago. I had a new Cub and was there mainly to run up the engine, get things adjusted. It was a bit too windy for me to feel comfortable with a first flight, but I caved.... (I really DID want to see it fly myself.)

She took off in about 15 feet in the strong, quartering head wind, an although she flew okay, she seemed to be twitchy. Turns out that twitchy was actually 'glitchey'. In my nervousness to get her up, I'd neglected to raise my Tx antenna. Never realized it til I was on the ground.

I was being smiled upon that day!

for me it was my little trainer, i hda converted form electric to glow 15 and it flew great, a friend turned up just as i finished packing, wanted to see it. so.. like a chump, i unpacked.. i flew, gave him the box, then wahm... all i could work out was the battery wire was quite tight and could have vibrated loose. ( first time a rx nicad had been in it. )
