To all of you that may not know it.  The Bloomington area clubs have been doing alot of the club racing and are taking the big plunge into 3 pole AMA sanctioned racing. A few of the guys went to Muncie and now are hooked.
We all have the question of "how do we promote racing?"  Here it is !!
This will be the first of two  official AMA 424 sanctioned races this year in Central Illinois.  It would be great to see the support and encouragement that we have all been talking about.  This is a great club and are very enthusiastic about racing.
Lets all show up and help put Bloomington on the map for annual races that we can talk about for years to come.
Racing in Illinois is back!

The First Annual Bloomington 424 race is just over 1 week away. I talked to Mike Wilson who has told me that he has over 15 pre-registered for June 20th and 21st.
They will be awarding Trophies for 1st thru 3rd place and fast times.
Along with Trophies, he has received some generous gifts from some of our great race retailers, promoters and supporters that he will give out in a drawing at the end of the race. I was told that if you show up and race, your name will be put in the box for the drawings.
This is the FIRST race that has taken place in Central Illinois for several years and we would like to see this become one of the Premier race events in the country.

"We have prizes from Jett Engineering (Dub Jett),  Darrol Cady, Hobbyland - Bloomington, IL, Hobbico. Thanks to these fine sponsors!"

These are NOT just sponcors,, I would have to classify all of them as Supporters and promotors of our great Hobby that we call "Pylon Racing".
Whether it is to donate prizes or sharing Valuable information and ideas, These are some of the fine people that make racing possible.
I know that without the support and help from all of them, pylon racing would not be what it is today.
Thanks

The field is setup ready to go for the weekend.  It looks awesome.  Some WIPRO guys came down today and did some test flying this afternoon with us.
Good times.  It is going to be a blast this weekend.

Great race put on by the SIRS group. The field was in excellent shape, and a geat place to fly. Hospitality was great. The race went smooth and ran very well. Hats off to you guys. Your first race was a very commendable one. The competition was good and a great time had by all. I look forward to returning for the September race. Congrats to Darwin larson and Jim Nicodem for their first place finishes, and to Bernie Vanderleest for fast time.
Rick

Great racing at the SIRS first 424 race, the field was in great shape, the course workers were very good and the prizes and hospitality was second to none!

This event represented the return of pylon racing to central Illinois, the first event in 25 years, and it was a doozie. Every heat was a hard fought event characterized by frequent lead changes, tough competition, amazing 2 & 3 turn passes, and smoking fast times (for 424). If you've been looking for a great venue to rejoin sport pylon or to give it a try for the first time, don't delay as there is another 424 race scheduled for Sept. 20, 21st at the SIRS field.

Come on you guys in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, and Wisconsin this is a great site with racing hosted by superb hosts, right in your backyard. Come participate and enjoy great racing with a great bunch of guys - don't miss out on the fun!

GFTL,
TJ

All I can say is WOW, what a great race venue !!!  The Bloomington guys did a wonderful job in preperation of the field. This was a grass field that was mowed down and rolled like a golf course! AMAZING
Day 1 was HOT HOT HOT HOT and HUMID. Racing was fantastic with several lead changes in every heat all day long. I had my share of "bad engine blues"  do to losing  half of a piston on and OLD TT40. I got some parts from a friend and installed a new Piston and liner for day 2.
Day 2 greeted us with rain in the morning that let up around 9:30 and we started racing at 10:00 am sharp. We flew 6 rounds before the rain came back with EVERY heat being so close that you could have thrown a blanket over all 3 planes at any point. BIG FUN.
Thanks to all the course workers for sitting out in miserable heat on both days.
Great racing and great fun on both days. I look forward to the second race in Bloomington later this year and hope more of you can show up.
This was the first race ever for the SIRS club..I would have to say..second to none, great job!

BIG thanks to Jett Engineering ( Dub Jett ) ,,,   Darrol Cady ,..   Hobbyland in Bloomington ,,,   Bob Smith Adhesives  and   Hobbico  for the awesome support and promotion of PYLON RACING  and donation of some very cool prizes.

Wish I could have made it.

What length was the course? Long or short?

It was the long course - longer for some of us... I would like to say thank you to everyone that came to race, those that sent prizes and a great big thank you to our SIRS club members and family members that helped. Looking back it was really pretty easy to pull off. After the matrix was run the racers took over and away we went. We were running the heats so fast I had a hard time just keeping up with that. Thanks for the kind words and we will see you in Hilbert Wisconsin August 8th and 9th. One more thank you to APC for some great props.
