The "no" votes are still winning out? What else do you need to be convinced?

Dude not rockets.. I mean a real jet engine with a nice throttle control system and all.

I added up the list and I think the price came to about 5 grand.. The plans went crashing into the trash can!

Tuna.. I'm now convinced that with a 30:1 reduction the maxx has enough power.. but how did the wheels get enough traction?

I think the consensus is that someone gave it a push from behind. Once the truck got rolling it owuld have kept rolling whether or not the maxx was "pulling" it.

I dont know if you guys have tried to push a car recently..

But you know.. its not that hard!
I'm not surprised that with such crazy gearing.. it can do it!

Come on now.. were talking about at least 1 HP coming out of those wheels. And at such low top speed, that a LOT of torque! Sorta like a winch.

I do believe that it can do it. It does have the power.. but what about traction?

Im with ram on this one. Have you pushed a S-10 chevy, just not any car cause S-10 are really light. I bett you put in a bigger truck like a silverado or ford f150 it wouldnt pull it

Hey tuna nice to see yu again!! Whats not real about that folks? If you would have noticed once the shoes warmed up a bit, the tires had already been spinning quite a bit thus makeing the rubber softer thus giving it more traction. Vid's look totaly legit, and I bet if you would try it your self you would be suprised, BTW tuna is that a c5 in your truck or something else? Is your tranny showing any wear yet? I remeber strobe was trying to destroy these gears with his C5 maxx, but I hadnt kept up with his reviews cause maxxtraxx was down 90% of the time!!

What you're describing is a perpetual motion machine. If I'd have built one of those you can bet I wouldn't be posting about it here!

I'd be off counting my money... or hiding from the giant energy corporations that wanted to 'talk' to me

Well that is true.. due to the massive momentum of the vehicle yes it will keep moving for a while.

Also.. even if theres a 1 degree slope in the parking lot it can make a huge difference in the force required to pull.

Thats why most speed tests are done 2 way and averaged !

Any case.. given the gear box... I'm not least bit surprised. Reduce the gearing by another factor of 20 and that little .21 can even hoist that S-10! Just a matter of sacrificing speed for power.

Actually no, I'm describing someone out of camera range pushing the truck and it rolling 10 feet. Its a wild theory, very advanced stuff, I know.

My comment about the perpetual motion machine was in reference to "Once the truck got rolling it owuld have kept rolling..." Yes, it is easier to move once the truck starts to roll, but as soon as you stop pulling it, it begins to slow down...

Apparently you didn't watch the second video? I did it again with the whole truck in view because many people said the same thing as you.

quote:

Infinity_pull_test_2.avi - 4.1MB
Again, you need the free DivX decoder.

Or, if you prefer the QuickTime file:
Infinity_pull_test_2.mov - 3.6MB

Alteramod I bet if I hooked it up to a dump truck it wouldn't pull it either. What I don't understand is why it seems that pulling a "really light" 3000+ pound S-10 isn't that big of an accomplishment?

Yeah I didnt watch the second, I refuse to install that quicktime crap on my PC. If the entire truck is in the shot, its alot more believable in my eyes.

you can get the divx for it and use your windows media to open up the file. It was still trying to open up quick time on my computer, but you can open it up with anything you like.

I dont want that quicktime stuff on my comp either. But at least its hardly as bad as the "REAL player" BS. I hate that company with a passion.

Anyway.. the second vid does show the ENTIRE truck in view.

and hey tuna.. what kinda tires did you use? Anything special or just normal ones?

Okay... let's try this again:

There are TWO videos, shot on seperate days. Both of those videos are provided in two formats.

The first video is available in AVI or MOV formats:
quote:

Infinity_FOC_pull_test.avi - (3.4MB)
If you have trouble seeing the AVI version, you NEED to go download the free DivX decoder.

Or, if you prefer the original QuickTime file:
Infinity_FOC_pull_test.mov - (2.8MB)

The second video , shot on another day, with the entire S-10 in the frame is also available in AVI or MOV formats.
quote:

Infinity_pull_test_2 .avi - 4.1MB
Again, you need the free DivX decoder.

Or, if you prefer the QuickTime file:
Infinity_pull_test_2 .mov - 3.6MB

If you saw the first video, then you can see the second video as well. There's no need to install "that quicktime crap" on your computer. Although I'd love to hear what you base your opinion of Quicktime on, that's a conversation worthy of a whole other thread...

BUGGIES_R_US: I used IMEX hard compound J-Hawgs on Maximizer beadlocks for the first video. I went back to the Proline Maxx Mashers on Nova RC wheels for the second.

just to let everyone know.... at work I move around regualy 3000 pound skids of paper with a hand powered pallet jack by myslef.

the hardest part of moving a heavy object is starting it rolling. or overcomming the "static friction" once that is taken car of a relativly small force can continue the movement and accelerate.

I believe that a
