The receiver that came with the 6EX transmitter that I purchased is the R607FS receiver.  I notice online that it looks like only the R617FS receiver is being sold now, so I assume that the 607 is an older version.
Can you tell me what the difference is between the two?

Never mind.  I found the answer - no appreciable difference!

The R607FS had a component change from the factory, which results in an increased speed. Since there was a difference in the components, Futaba Japan renamed the R607FS to the R617FS to reflect the new part.

There is nothing wrong with the older R607FS, other than being a little slower. The difference in speed is not something the normal flyer would even notice.

I have 4 of the R608FS 8 channel receivers and see that they have been discontinued and replaced with the new R6008HS 8 channel receiver. Can you tell me the difference in the two and were there any issues with the older R608FS that prompted them to be replaced?  I have not installed the R608FS receivers in any of my aircraft yet and wonder now if I should replace them with the newer receiver due to any problems that may exist with the older R608FS receiver?   Also, can I use either of the 8 channel spread spectrum receivers with the new 10 channel 2.4 radio transmitter?

The R6008HS receiver replaces the R608FS receiver.  The change was to make operation better when you use digital servos.  The receiver can send higher-frequency pulses to digital servos, which increases holding power and resolution.  The R608FS was discontinued because there is no need for both receivers.  The R6008HS works in regular and high-speed mode.  You make the decision when you install the system.  The instructions come with the receiver on the high-speed mode.

Thank you for answering most of my questions; however, you didn't address if either one of these 8 channel receivers can be used with the new 10channel 2.4 ghz transmitter.  Is the 8 channel receiver (either the R608FS or the R6008HS) compatible with the new 10 channel 2.4ghz transmitter?
Thank you.

Yes.  The 8-channel FASST receiver is "multi-mode" as far as the transmitter is concerned.

I have no clue if I am in the right place and already tried to post this to the Futaba forum and now can't find my question, so assume I won'y find your respone, so am starting over. Here goes (again). I have done everything the manual says to do and what a Futaba tech told me to do when I e-mailed the Futaba web site and it still dos not work. I need to mount two HiTec 645s to the elevator of my gasser, and one goes in channel 2 and one in 5, I get that. I have a 7c-2.4, brand new. The tech said to set the ailerons to 20% in Ailvator, then in parameters, set chan 5 to -, with the right servo in channel 2 and the left in 5. As soon as I turn on the receiver and radio, the channel 5 servo goes to max and stays there, regardless of anything I can figure out to do. Channel 2 servo works as expected. I do not want to use a reversing y-harness or a matchbox. I want the new radio to work like it is supposed to.

What am I doing wrong?

You're using channel 5 for the second elevator servo. That's the gear channel. You'll see that if you flip the gear switch, the servo will move to the other extreme. Try channel 6 or 7 for the second elevator. If you don't want the elevators to act as ailerons, then you set the aileron action to 0% in the Ailevator function.
