Just curious if anyone has assembled the Easy Tiger Model large F-8F Bearcat.  I am currently looking forward to receiving this plane within a week or two and wanted to get some general information about the servos and powerplant  others are using.  My plan is to use an engine in the power range of a DA 150 with the understanding that it is OVER KILL,  but that's the engine currently available.  Any information regarding flight characteristics would also be appreciated.

I placed an order for the large Bearcat 10 days ago and hope to hear that it has shipped soon.  I will post pictures as soon as it is received.  WR450,  what was the wingspan and length of the Bearcat you previously owned? Since the wingspan of the ET Bearcat is 95",  I have guestimated the scale of the plane to be roughly 1/4.5 with a  fuselage length of about 76".  If others actually have the plane,  would appreciate your feedback.

Hi my old bearcat was 86in glass fuess, and fome core wings sheeted and glassed.I also have the scale retracts made by Gene Barton for the F8F and wheels these retracts areticulate (spelling) like the full size bearcat have, very nice retracts.I talked to the owner of easytiger and thinks that the retracts will work in his palne, I hope they will.

Its been two weeks and a day,  but no word about the large Bearcat I ordered.  Emailed Curtis today hoping he might have some information to share,  but he has not sent a reply.  Perhaps there will be some news tomorrow.

If I remember correctly that they were going to be drop shipped from the factory (most likely China) So I would expect that it is going to take longer than normal. I don't know for sure but I thought that I had read somewhere that the Bearcat and the 190 were being shipped this way.

My experience has been just the opposite.  I have ordered quite a few jet models from different companies in China, and my wait time has averaged nearly 12 weeks.  That was one of the reasons I was quite hesitant to order anything that was not warehoused in the USA.  However, Curtis (Easytiger) did assure me that the wait time would be substantially less than what I'd previously experienced.  If the plane ships by the end of this week and the quality proved to be acceptable,  I will order from ET in the future.

Well,  I was told that the plane would ship by the end of last week,  but have yet to receive any confirmation in the form of a tracking #. Perhaps one day,  it will get back to the point that vendors will warehouse the items in the USA so that an order can be processed and shipped in a matter of days instead of weeks and months.

It has now been a week since I was told the exact same thing. I have decided that after this plane is finally delivered, any future purchases must come with the assurances that whatever is ordered will be shipped within the week or the deal will be cancelled.

Is it me or does that excuse seem a bit suspect? Perhaps too complex? Lets see.

WHY WHY WHY will other traditional companies like Top Flite, KMP and others make a Giant Scale ARF warbird instead of the 60 size family....with a few exceptions (Robart P-47 and the TF P-51)....this size market is ignored. Companies...please you have people lined up willing to pay cash for Giant Scale warbirds....95" and up please....and price it to compete with the PRC companies....and you will have a winner.....hear us please.

It does appear that a few companies are paying attention to the call for larger ARF warplanes. Just to name a few, TBM has the Zero, P-40, and soon will release a 100" Corsair; Composite ARF has the 110" Corsair, and of course there is Easy Tiger with the 96" FW-190, 100" P-38, 95" Bearcat, and a large Corsair is on the way. Finally, Fly Eagle Jets has recently listed a P-40 on its website. Perhaps in time, others will follow with planes such as the Mig 5, P-39,LA 5FN, and AD-6 skyraider. To be honest, I would settle for a kit with lazer cut parts and an accurate set of plans. I know this is "old school," but to have a 110"to 120" wingspan warbird, I would not be opposed to building it.

Now regarding the shipping delay for the Bearcat, I received a phone call from Easytiger with an offer to refund my money. I have waited longer for a plane than this and rarely did I receive a phone call offering to send me a refund. In fact, with the previous orders, most phone inquiries were initiated by me. Since the Bearcat will be a slight departure from what I generally fly, and given the fact that ET is conducting business in manner that addresses customers' concerns, I am willing to wait for the plane.

MiG-3 I think you mean. The MiG-5 never was... it was supposed to be a twin... the Russian equivalent of the Mossie or Ta-154.

Don't forget there is Meister Scale, Don Smith Plans, Nick Ziroli and quite a few others out there that do BIG warbirds, and all of them have a number of laser cutters that do a fantastic job...

Apparently there were two birds with the designation of Mig-5. The twin that you mentioned and also a 14 cylinder- radial engine single seat fighter. This particular plane first flew in 1942 and had a max speed of 370 mph. The Mig-5 was outclassed by the La-5 so only a few were produced. The plane was in service for a short period of time in 1943.
