Zagzoo -> GSP Hellcat engine selection... (6/21/2003 9:32:22 PM)

I am purchasing a GSP Hellcat.. I was trying to decide which motor to put in it. The plane weighs 10lbs, 70" WS... It calls for a 90 2C, or a 120 4C. Can I fly this on the RCV 90? I was seeing if I could get away with it, or should I get the RCV120? I want to use a 3-blade prop. Didnt know if there would be enough ground clearance with the RCV120 with a bigger 3 blade prop?

Any suggestions?

use at least rcv 120, and about ground clearance the 3 blade prop has to be smaller then the 2 blade so if itīs ok with 2 blades, it has to by ok with 3 either

RCU had a review on a GSP Corsair a while back. 75.5" WS, 12.4 lbs, and an RCV90. The reviewer was very impresses with the RCV, but as you know, reviews are always on the positive side.

I think RCV engines are perfectly suited for small and mid-size warbirds. I'm currently breaking in a RCV90 for my 1/8 TF Corsair.

As for 3-bladed props, the only one on RCV's list of recommended props is 15.75x13 3-blade... for both the 90 and 120 sizes. I read somewhere that the 120 will give you an few hundred extra RPM over the 90 with the same prop.
