I'm starting a new semi scale boat, so what type of wood should i use to build the hull and cabin.

It depends what size hull your making......My recenet boat was 18" and used 1/16 balsa for the hull and desk and 1/4 ply or bass for the formers

If you're building a boat that is fairly large, I'd use aircraft grade plywood, while for a  smaller boat or an electric, probably balsa covered with glass.  You will get better answers if you can give us more to go from as well

Thin plywood, balsa, plastic, brass,... what ever you are most comfortable working with.

Just be sure to keep the superstructure  somewhat light, otherwise the boat may have a tendancy to rock a bit.
