i don't think i am understanding exactly what is happening, but my guess is part #7154 (small pin) is what is broken and you need to grab part #7151 to loosen the wheel nut. it should be fairly easy.

Yeah... What I'm also saying is you should be able to simply turn the nut without having to cut off or drill anything. All you need is a grip on parts that are spinning so try that first and then go try other mehods. A small nut like that shouldn't be too difficult to negotiate with enough caress and torque. Good luck.

I suppose you can grab the axle on the side leading into the differential.

i've been scratching my head about raising the body higher than stock levels. i went to the ace hardware store nearby and found some nylon parts to play with. it's a bit of a hack job, but i like how it turned out. this mod should give me more clearance for the larger wheels i'm running.

i've added a new futaba 3pmx radio system. it's nice and glitch free. i live in the suburbs, so it was okay to run it with the stock AM system it came with, but this new one is certainly nicer.

this particular setup does not need the wheel widener i've been using with the erevo wheels. i did however attach the modded HPI SS wheels with the barrel nuts the wheel wideners came with. the large nylon spacer is also from ace hardware.

... and here is one more set of images. these just arrived. the wheels and tires are HPI nitro off-road types with matching 12mm hex mount parts. as you can see, the wheels are diameter sized somewhere in between the slash and erevo wheels dimensions and the width too is somewhere in between.

i haven't glued them in yet, as they are a pretty tight fit. i'm going to run them unglued and see if that might work okay for bashing.

the grey wheel is also the same type of wheels and only different in the way it looks.

i'm using the wheel wideners on this setup. gonna run em tomorrow and will let you guys know how it works...

Well bob, I think you're onto the money question. The thing we've all been trying to solve is the question you ask. While there is quite a bit that will fit a erevo, there is so little that will fit a slash. It'd be great if you can post what you find.

Slow down A LOT for turns. Or cut down some electrical tape into 1/2" strips and wrap the outer edges of the tires; this lets it drift a little.

FWIW, I finally caved in and converted mine to the revo suspension, though I still have Slash tires - yes, it looks a bit funny and the body needs to be trimmed.

i have found a small area of off road and the truck is fantastic. but as i do a lot more on road i think i might have to sell it.

Noob here (to everything RC car/truck-wise). I've got a VXL on the way and I'd like to know any recommendations for "right away" upgrades. I plan on using it on dirt and asphalt (and dirty asphalt). Anything I need to change out early, or should I wait 'til something breaks?

The only mod I recommend is a second stock battery pack and a parallel adapter to more than double runtime. Oh, and get a wheely bar...
Keep the voltage stock or use 7.4v lipo's and you wont break anything anytime soon. It took my about a year to break my first part, which was a front control arm. I hit a pointed rock embedded in the ground with the front control arm at full speed... Well, actualy it broke the second time i hit it . The only other things that have seen damage is the wing (wheelies and cartwheels) and the body posts (from sliding on its lid) Oh and I lost about 50 body clips before I got smart and got some body clip keepers.....

If you up the voltage you can expect to go through differentials from what I hear.

This tippy thing with the mini slash cant you just run a thicker oil in the shocks and tighten up the suspension to run on road.

Tried all kinds of springs including the revo springs, and oil up to 60 wt, with the stock tires and suspension arms I could never get rid of the rollover issue on asphalt - only thing that worked was wrapping the outer edge of the tires with electrical tape. I converted it to revo suspension arms and 1/10 buggy tires in the end.

yea I think revo arms are really the only way to go... I dont really "get" the appeal of the slash.... my mini revo rolls over more than I would like, I cant imagine a slash....

The only way to get rid of the rolling issue is driving style. I also found if you drive it in dirt it slides instead of flipping. I think it is great fun trying to not flip it. I would assume its relatively realistic but hey..... I have never driven or seen a sct on asphalt..

Actually FWIW, the CORR races I watched (when it was on a channel I actually get) usually had an asphalt section somewhere in the track, the front straightaway on the tracks that were built inside an oval track at least. I can't remember offhand which tracks they ran though, that was 2008 or 2009 season. I don't get the channel they're airing the TORC races on now, so I don't know if they're using the same track layouts......but I'm waaay off topic here .

The way I cut down on roll-overs is to put street tires on, and I lowered it loads by getting a set of the Traxxas Rally shocks (they are the same as stock but come with a travel limiter). It is now really low and rarely rolls over. Another thing that helps is running with two identical packs at the same time as the car is balanced, with weight on both sides.
