It's tippy box stock.

Make suspension and tire changes and I bet it won't tip as much.

You also have to be realistic about it.. 90 degree turns at full wot are not realistic..

As the owner of a speed demon slash, if anyone is interested in making it go as fast as possible, the answer is the bodyshell and overall aerodynamics of the truck.

It seems the total aerodynamic wall for this type of truck shell (1/10th or 1/16th, don't matter) is around 45mph, anything more than that and the air gets underneath and lifts the truck off the floor.

Get a replacement shell and cut the front long, removing the front bumper. Slam the truck as low as possible to the ground and limit the suspension travel so the truck won't allow any air underneath on rebound. I dropped the shell through the mounts as well, to get it properly low. I had my Slash geared 29/76 (stock is 18/86) with a VXL and 3s lipo and I could pin full throttle for as long as I liked and it wouldn't take off. Almost certainly one of the fastest full bodied Slashs around.

I agree with all of the above... I am totally used to my 18Rs which can slice up corners for breakfast... so this is a whole new experience... when it's on the dirt this truck is 5 kinds of awesome... and I with the new radio + stiffer and lower suspension controlling it on the pavement is getting better. it's the low speed flip over onto it's top because I slid on a more rough patch of pavement (grabbed traction) which was frustrating me.. but I just have to be mindful of where I choose to slide into and such... just like driving a real truck/car..

well, this AE radio sucks also... I need to just pony up another $70 for an RS310 and run this car off my XS3pro... when the car is going full boar the radio would make the steering twitch and the car will spin out.. didn't really find that out until today when I used the radio a lot... finally broke a rear carrier link.. er, toe link.. what-have-you... I have to drive this truck on dirt more because it's taking a lot of abuse on pavement...

The all around I think I like the revo more.. the slash is best offroad in loose dirt.. like what you would find at a baseball field between the bases.. that kind of dirt.

Hello all, I am new to the RC world and just received my mini slash. Love it. Burned up my first batt. pack the 2nd day though because I charged it with too many amps. Anyway, while I am waiting for the  new batteries to come in, I have been looking for mods, especially different tires and rims. Anyone know who has them and what size I can put on the mini slash? Any other links to sites with mods would be appreciated. Thanks

If your mainly playing on asphalt 1/10 26mm onroad wheels fit really well. I've heard the hpi front vintage wheels and rally tires seem to be agood all around combo.

the mods I have found best for the slash are lowering it a little by using stiffer springs (black stripe) but having them set "loose" so it hangs a little lower.. the using like 50wt in the rear and 40wt in the front.. I put my 10th scale touring wheels on the slash and they are a good fit, but they made it even more tippy unless I lowered it down a LOT.. I just haven't really enjoyed the slash as a pavement basher much.. I like it in the dirt a LOT.. I use my revo on pavement now because it's big tires and wider stance is so much more forgiving on tarmac..

Where is everybody? Against my better judgement, I wound up buying the Rick Huseman edition on Saturday(and I only went in to buy tires for my 1/8th scale ), and I haven't really had a chance to wring it out yet. First impressions - it's fast, too fast for the rough gravel I've run it on so far, and it's touchy - doesn't take much to spin out when given steering input. Looks like it will be pretty fun on the track though. I might have to pick up some different tires, nice that I can slap TC rims on for street running.

Based on my limited experience with this truck so far, I think traxxas missed the boat on the spring rates. The soft/progressive setup works well on the "big" slash, but the handling doesn't seem to scale down well. It's way too soft out of the box, making it bottom out and traction roll very easily. Hopefully switching to one of the heavier rate spring sets and heavier fluid will help.

it does help, but it the truck is still too tippy... I think it's narrow stance and light weight combined with a lot of power just make it unstable.. I have to drive it more like I would a real car.. slowing way down for corners and such... it gets much better if you slam it to the ground with pre-load, but then you loose some of the suspension's ability to cushion.. all things being equal, I like my revo a lot more.. I am planning on selling the slash here soon because I just don't have a perfect dirt spot to drive it in which is where it's most fun..

throw some revo arms/pushrods/toelinks/driveshafts on it and it shouldnt be as tippy anymore.

I was thinking that as well, but it surely wouldn't do any favors for the "scale" appearance. I might just buy the parts to be able to swap around.
I brought the Slash with me to the track yesterday hoping to try it out during practice, but of course I left the battery sitting on my workbench... Oh well.
