I'm a big Traxxas fan (four Rustlers) and the new Traxxas 1/16 E-Revo and Slash look like great cars, but they are a little too rich for my blood.  The price for the 1/16 E-Revo makes a lot of sense, based on the price and performance of the 1/10 E-Revo, but do you think it would have been cool if Traxxas had just made a RWD Slash at a lower price point, closer to the 1/10 Slash price, which can be found for less than $200, even close to $150 with various discounts.

I expect the 1/16 Slash to drop in price eventually, but for now, it's just a dream and I'll have to stick with my Mini-T's, and maybe pick up a RC18T if I decide to go 4wd.

I was able to get it at Tower Hobbies for $240 with their membership discounts. I do admit though if  the discount was't available i would not have purchased it right away. Mines should be arrive Monday or Tuesday. I'm looking forward to it.  I think being the Slash is narrow with smaller wheels, it would benefit from being 4 wheel drive.

I'm not sure how they could make it much cheaper with a VXL brushless system in it.  If you took a regular slash and added a VXL system you'd be at $380 too.

I'm sure you'll see the prices come down a little in a few months but I wouldn't expect to see it drop under $350.

I've got a RC18T, RC18MT and M18MT right now.   All brushless so I might sell one of them to fund purchasing a 1/16 erevo.

Hey Druss i ordered  a vxl slash today with the second battery plus series adapter for the 50+mph and with a $75 off code with shipping to canada it came to $264 USD and with our dollar over 90 cents it is still under $300 CAD......Not to bad....got the Amsoil body....sweet.

Yep, understood that the VXL is going to increase the price.  Wasn't there going to be a brushed version?  If a brushed version was around $200, that's closer to my budget.  I'd run it until the motor burned out, while saving for a EZrun combo.

You say you're going to get rid of one of your RC18T's; do you think you're going to like the Traxxas better, or you just want a different car?  I hear the RC18T is pretty good.

I would get one but theres other things that are more important to pay for right now. Like the $542 dollars it is to register my truck this year (damn you state of CA) And since i have other RC's that get 0 attention, i figure this would only lead to more of that. One day i maybe able to sell of some RC's that sit around like the Losi XXX-NT2 or even the Yokomo drift sedan and could replace them with the brushless mini revo.

Cliff Notes: Other things to pay for so NO, wont be getting one.

I wanted one erevo and thats what turned me to this mini side.  But after seeing how many people jumped on it I'm more to sit back and see the reports.  I also don't have the funds right now and like said above I have other things to pay for.  But I am keeping an eye on it and will see a few months down the road once I get my mini T going and see how I feel about mini's.
I really like the Hyper 1/12 at this point more so will have to wait and see...

mI'm not getting one, my vendetta kicks butt, different characteristics, I've had a few monsters, and I prefer a more nimble rc. The ofna hyper ste looks good, but uhhhgg! That body is homely.

Then I go and look at the 1/16 official threads and see pics and videos and fall in love all over again!! ARGG.. Why can't I just own them all!!

I'm not getting one because I just bought a used mini RC18MT w/ 3 batts and charger for 60 bucks,
I did get to see the mini vxl slash run on the track yesterday it has crazy power. Just not something I would want, everyone was ate up with it though.
I would rather have a 1/10 scale slash than that.

The mini E REVO and Slash are going to cause all the manufactures to step back and look at their cars , cause once people see how good they are sales of the other minis will drop drastically .

Yes they are that good ! My mini E REVO is faster and stronger than my MLST2 which has about 500 into it and still isnt super reliable .

I would recommend the VXL E REVO too anybody looking for a mini , sure is expensive BUT you will save money in the long run by not having too mod it for brushless power .

I don't like the T as much as my MT's so I"m going to keep the RC18MT and get the slash or erevo (haven't decided which yet).  If I really like the slash or erevo then I might sell the RC18MT's as well and get a second slash or erevo.

I am not going to get one because my vendetta st is perfect for the track I drive on. I wouldn't want to spend another 300 when I already have that much in my vendetta. It keeps up with a mini E-revo just fine.

I have a RC18T and I'm going to get a Hyoer STe next. The RC18T is fun and small enough to drive inside. The Revo VXL is to big for inside and small outdoor areas yet not big enough for rough outdoor conditions. The Hyper STe is big enough for outdoor rough stuff and doesn't need upgrades for the drivetrain.

Your thoughts are similar to mine. The 1/16's Traxxas seem more like small 1/10's instead of big 1/18's. Right now I can run my Micro-T's inside, my Mini-T's (non-brushless - my brushless Mini-T's are WAY too fast) in the driveway or a large basement, and my brushless Rustlers in big areas.

I own a CRT .5. No need for another mini. Strong, handles extremely well, can take sick amounts of power without issues.

I'm not getting a 1/16 Traxxas cause I simply don't want one. I already have a 1/16 Tamiya anyhow.

I am not buying one because for 300 bucks I rather buy an SCX-10 or a crawler king. That's my official reason. My real reason is because they are 1/16, and when traxxas does 1/16 it's probably closer to 1/12 which is closely approaching 1/10 and really isnt a mini anymore. If I wanted a "mini" that was slightly smaller than my rc10 then I would get the Hyper ste.

I already own 2 slashes and they are ridiculous fun.
