wow scott, she is looking great so far. you've really made alot of progress, thanks for up-dating the thread and posting all the pics. shoot me a pm with a parts list that i need to get, i know one is an exhaust. did you figure out the header yet? i may just order a set up from gizmo motors, but i need to know what header to get. or i'll just pick one up from aeromarine when i come over again. thanks again, tony

Set your strut height so bottom of prop hull level with keel as a base line im guessing thats a 275 prather
Run neutral angle on strut and neutral on rudder the hull sits soft on it transom at speed and it will rail in on turns naturally if balance is good
Also good to hear the comments from aeromarine she was designed to turn heads

First I'd like to say I've been following Dreamin's build threads and they are both entertaining and instructional. Had I cruised the forums before buying I may well have been a customer.

I'm trying to understand your setup recommendations above. You're saying the bottom of the propellor should be level with the with the bottom of the hull or sposon ride pads?

I read some where else on the forum that 70% of the propeller radius should be bellow the bottom of hull or ride pad. That would mean setting the strut height so that the prop shaft center is above the hull bottom by a distance of 30% of the prop radius.

Comments?

Thanks for the comments, glad to have you as a loyal follower....
I was scratching my head myself at that post as well.  When speaking to Remy Jr. the other day I was told that on his cats, especially the larger ones the optimum strut depth has always been around 1/2" - 9/16" above sponson bottoms....the center of the drive shaft strut to the flat surface it rests on.  I may start there.  We'll see what NVS has to say, perhaps further explanation with pictures???  I know he wants to begin a build of his own soon, will have to keep an eye out!

Can't sell products or discuss prices on a thread, however just checked my site and it's there.....just need to scroll down the products page a little.  May move the cat to the top of that page later.

First of all it was a typo i mean prop hub
Where the blade joins the hub now set the bottom of hub level with keel
Another thing this cat has no ride pads so it is measured off the keel on the sponson
So its easy get a steel ruler, hang boat off table with strut and prop on set the ruler across both bottoms of sponsons and rest hub on top of the edge of ruler
Yes you can go higher but i found this the best for 275 prather as a starting point
Ha ha yes my build starting soon few ideas carbon interior and engine rails boat has been sponsored paint and signage just waiting for it to come back from sign shop its a painful wait but hey im not paying

After a couple days off I was back on the build.

Had to wait for some floatation to be installed before adding the fuel tank.  Made a visit to Walmart and picked up several different sizes of pool noodles to try out.

Ended up using the entire "jumbo" noodle and some of the regular size.

Stuffed as much as I possibly could...even shaped the tip for a better fit.

The jumbo was perfect for filling the sponsons.

Quick question. Would the stuffing tube slot have to be moved back if a clutch was to be installed?

The fuel tank is a standard Sullivan 24 oz.  The tray is made by Aeromarine Laminates and gets attached to the tank using zip ties.

Since the bottom of the tunnel portion of the hull is not perfectly flat, but rather a "v" shape, I wanted to fill the area with plywood.  This also gave something for the screws that hold the servo trays to bite into.   I tapered the ply to perfectly match the hull shape.  Using body filler, it was then secured in place.  Body filler was recommended as a means of securing by Remy and worked perfectly!

The radio box will get the same treatment.

Since the strut bracket from AM is designed to be used with a pipe bracket, I removed about an inch or so of material so it dosen't stick out so far.  With the water pick up bracket installed, looks MUCH better.

CC Racing provided the throttle linkage.  Very similar to AM gear.  Nice bracketry and a smooth operation.

Fuel and water line routing.  Can't finish until I get the header/flange/pipe, however stuck another setup I have lying around to mock up the 3 water exits.  One is for the tank vent, the other two are regular water exits.

Radio install....well, at least mocked up.  Need to replace the servo in place with a high torque.  Again, just needed to stick one in there for sizing.  Nice radio box by the way.  Very stiff and extremely lightweight.  The blue colored plexi glass cover ads a nice touch.

Back on the shelf for another day.......

Possibly not.  Definately may have to redrill new engine mount holes.  C/g would be effected, however shuffling things around the radio box may help.
