While i like paintjobs they never seem to last your boat allways gets damaged scratched or whatever so i tend to stick to gelcoat and decals for most of my boats as its easier to repair.I got some cool paint here and i just know as soon as ive painted the boat with it its gonna go get stuffed into the bank and ruined .I fancy trying a vinyl wrap on a hull sometime as they look awesome and easier to repair.

Don't know either of them personally but from I've seen here the son is obviously a dedicated, commited individual. His father must have set a fine example.

Sorry for you loss Scott. I hope this event, sad as it is, brings peace to your family.

Thanks guys. It's difficult now, however we expected this for some time. When my little brother passed last year, this hobby we have kept my mind busy and helped me get through that. Same applies here.....the R/C hobby for me is sort of a therapy, sort of weird but it really helps thoes times when I'm alone. Again, thank you for your condolances and kind words.

I really appreciate all your responses. The initial shock was over months ago when we heard nothing else could be done.

Today I was able to do a little work on this project. It kept my mind busy knowing I'm practically finished.

Went over everything with a fine tooth comb. Looks good..... Completed installing the header and pipe with all the plumbing. Pipe is not attached at the transom to allow for adjustment. You see what I had to cut down on the header from the cut off piece in the picture. I still have over an inch either way to adjust. Right now centered at 12.5" on the 1" band pipe center. With the different headers I have in my possession, the 2" offset 25 degree header fits the best. I was told my NVS that it would be hard finding the right one, however this fits the best.... however still a little tight to the hatch flange. I may trim that flange slightly, but there is about a "heavy" 1/8" of clearance right now.

Since things looked good, decided to try a little bench testing of the new RCMK. Filled the tank and plumbed up a quick water source. Engine started in 8 pulls to a nice idle. A few adjustments on the radio and It was ready to get wet. Ran total of 4-5 minutes at idle speed with slight burps of the throttle. Nice response so far from the throttle input. Water flows easily as seen with the dual outlets.

Well, a sweet bitter evening for this cat. After testing the radio, fittings and engine, I figured I had a half hour of good daylight left. Off to the "test" pond I went. Packed up, got there in a few minutes. Unpacked and couldn't wait to get this thing wet! Choose to take a few in the water pictures before starting and doing a shake down test.

Problem is, I was alone so couldn't take video or pics of it running....even if it did. You see, I know all was double checked, except for one thing......I didn't Loctite the set screw on the drive dog! The engine started in 3 pulls, but the prop barely moved! I know for sure the engine side of the flex shaft was tight, however the set screw must have loosened in the brief bench test and was missing! Talk about a downer!!! Months of preparation getting this hull here, finally getting to build one, pumped as I headed to the pond only to be grounded by a $.15 little black screw!!!! AHHHHHH!! lol, that's ok, I was able to at least test for leaks, none, and take a few pictures as it grew darker and darker around me. Will find another set screw and perhaps try again tomorrow.

Thats a bummer scott, been there, done that!
I have extras of every thing with me when I go to run, parts & tools in a feild kit that goes with every time. I have had the set screw thing happen, and then while putting ina new one "on the dock" dropped the alen wrench & those sink too . LOL hence the extra tools

cant wait to here how it runs it looks real good.

Yeah, it was a last second decision. Didn't bring anything except myself, the hull and radio. I only had a few minutes of daylight anyway. Will have to stock up on those little buggers!

No problem buddy. Been fun getting one together finally. The real fun begins now! How about you come back over here tomorrow morning? Looking like a busy weekend here for me starting tomorrow night. The morning and afternoon are the best bet for sure.

Just need to get that set screw! lol How soon could you be here? Earlier the better!!! PM me your phone number and I'll call you, I've misplaced my cell.

Thanks Hemi....love the name

PM me and I could steer you in a direction. Just FYI, it's quicker for me to build a cat over the V.

Note to self, place spare drive dog screws in the tool kit!

Am I the only one that uses locktite for small threads on the drive dog?
