we have had the kit siting in our shop for about 4 years now my dad was going to sell it then he got the idea to convert it in to electirc we originaly tought it was a smaller wing span than the 63" that it is. there was no box with specicications  just a carbdord crate that it was in. we have converted other planes but noting this size befor the biggest plae was  a 28" P- 57 mustang.

my dad and I have been talking about doing this for over a year now.

it is a world a world model arf spitfire. came with flaps and retracts preinstaled so were going to keep them on the plane.

Most all of the hard work is done we need to put all the sevos in and get the battery and moter for thr plane it is about 5lbs put together took about 6 hours to assemble the plane but it still need lots of work.

The bigest problem we have is what size electirc moter to put in the plane.

Any tips on air flow to cool the battery and moter would be help full to.

Okay ... you need to decide if you want to fly her on 5S or 6S. Then you can look into the following:

Motor

AXI 4120/16 (6S), Hyperion 4025-12 (5S), Hacker A50 or DualSky 5050-8 (5S) ... try to stay clear of the cheaper Hobby City motors such as the Turnigy, they tend to throw their magnets at times but they are cheap for sure.

ESC

Something in the 80A range would be nice. Branded ones are Castle Creation, Jeti etc and for me a Turnigy works well.

Batt

Look for something in the 3,700 mAh to 4,000 mAh range. Packs of 4,900 mAh will give you good flight times but then the AUW will be more of course.

You have to think carefully about battery placement and access. Placement is to ensure you get the CG right. As for air flow you need to open up some outlets for the air to flow out and for the firewall you can open up a little hole and build a scoop for better air flow.

thanks this will help alot i did some resech after the post last night and found that the eflight 60 brusles outrunner is perfictfor our wghet class and the thunderpower 4800 mah 11.1v battery would go with the moter my dad flys the combonation of eflight moters and thunderpower batters on all of his other planes that are electric.

it will be a 6s plane with alerons, flaps ruder, retracts, and elevator

this plane was not flowen on gas 1st so we dont know how it will fly. =( but on the bright side this is the frist bigproject in years that my dad and I have got to work on toghter.

iam 16 and love this hobby been "flying" and "help" bulding since i was a year old no plane fo over 5 years has been this big.
it is a arf kit tough.=(should be fun to fly.

il lpost som piks when i get a chance.

o and money  is not a problem

we took the plane out today for 1st flight and it flew. it was way out of trim and the sugestions in the book to set the pitch on all the sufaces was way to much so we ajusted and took back up rolls and loops amasing.  my dad wnts to convert most of his gas planes to electric now. some of the plane include an uproar, somethin exra, mustang, and a  biplane. so lots of work in like 6 months to a year.

well we decided to sell most of the gassers that we have. =( so the other conversions arnt gona happen. the planes were going to keep are to big for electirk power 35 percent extra 300 and 500 and a mustang thats the same size as the spitfire but sadly the planes going to stay gass because its to much work to take the stuff off and put elcetrik on it.

iam realy going to miss the biplane, uproar and crosair he bulit when i was a yare old it was a good plane for 15 1/2 years.
dont minde him geting rid of the ultrastick, other mustang, cap450, and a moreized sailplane.
