    hi all
i have build the Flying falg " designed by flythingz at the time
i wont hassle  with all the building details, it is very simple and u can see the pictures.

however, i did a small but important modification

in the orginal design , the RUDD STAB is "Uncle sam" made from 4-5mm polycarbonate form
i have replaced this STAB/Figure with a FIN and active rudd - servo - see pic.

last friday, me and I3dm as test pilot, had 3 flights

while flying, the plane wanted to roll from side to side consistently, after a while, the plane tried to roll to the RT with HARD down, without the pilot interference!!
I3dm tried to see if this related to wind dirction and speed of theplane - it happens on both, hence in high and low speed and fornt/back wind as well,
while flying slowly it is less.
at first, the planes was NOSE heavy and we added 130gr and went up again
we had slight improvment but still the plane "rocks" right after take of from side to side and the HARD down&right happend several times.

3rd test i have replaced the RX to iliminate any "old" RX and RF noise from being a part of this trubleshooting.

you can see the falg clip from Flying thingz - stable as a rock! http://www.3d-nut.com/videos/flagship.wmv

    while mine is acontrare.

if anyone have nay idea what could cause this or how to overcome such a matter please do comment on the matter

    tech note:

    OS55AX
    12X6 APC
    6V 2500 NimH
    4X 475 HD - hiteck servos
    1X 81MG - rudd servo
    total weight  - 4kg~

    thx and shalom
    Gadi

Have you tried contacting Flying Thingz at support@flyingthingz.com

They might be able to help since it's their design.  I wonder if making the fin/rudder functional hasn't created the problem.  Possibly the area is too large.

    update:

the follwoing modifications were made in order to increase flight stability and easy:

    1. 20% added to vertical stab for more YAW stability
    2. another Fin- vertically , was inserted at the bottom of the wing to add more YAW stability
    3. 200gr total wieght on tail for general CG
    4. 60gr on the CG RT side to overcome CG on engine axis

I3dm have preformed addtional 3 flight last friday,( i will add clip and pics soon)

to compansate the RT roll he added more LT rudder by trim

the FLAG flying much better with no sudden RT+DW stalls
it stall like a cessna pn the nose very nicely when you idle while holding up

thx I3dm - AKA Lior zehavy for the test flights and support along the way

    next flight is at the
2009 WORLD JET MASTERS 2 days show this comming weekend june 26 & 27 at the DEAD SEA

    Guys!

After posting here and at other RC sites for help and consulting on, how and what in order to make this models fly better,
    I'm happy to announce that:

the results were with outstanding successes

The air show at the world jet masters 2009 at the Dead Sea was amazing!!!!!!

The flag flew brilliantly in the experienced hands of I3dm - Lior Zahavi

The sky-cutter was amazing as well

In the second and last day I had came up with this crazy and usual idea: to hover with the Flag together with 2 J10 vector jets from Germany.

Lior have coordinated the flight with the other 2 German pilots, Enrico and Ralph ...magnificently

You can watch the videos here:

and here is Gadi's flyingthingz lawnmower:

and the flag in a hover:

Lior my friend - you did history!!

See this amazing pictures as well:

    Hello Gadi,

That is amazing. We actually sold the company to Tony Diaz in California. I'm am now the company test pilot [>:] which means I get to fly a lot more than I used to. Give Tony a chance, he's a great guy and we wish him as much success with FlyingThingZ as I had. Thanks for the videos.

    Happy Landing

    Spiro
    Team FlyingThingZ Pilot
