I need a little help here, electronics and gearing always confuses me. I have a Mikado Logo 10 that I recently purchased. Im running a 4s lipo. The motor is a Hacker C50 14L (1740 RPM/V, 1200 peak watts). It has a 11t pinion and a 200t main gear. The headspeed seems fine (dont have a tach) it flies smooth but after about 5 minutes of flying I land and the motor seems VERY hot to the touch. The speed control and batt are slightly warm but not hot. Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking maybe i need to change the pinion???

Oh yeah, its got a Logo 20 head on it so its a little more mass to swing

Thanks - Chris

check your gear mesh? if mesh is fine maybe go with smaller pinion..
the bigger head is not helping with motor heat
ps fireboy can u post a link to the hacker motor you are using

http://hackerbrushless.com/motorDetails.aspx?series=C50

its the C5014L

I just totally rebuilt the heli and I found that the bearings were really gummed up. I think thats the mojor problem with the heat. When i would try to spin them they would sonly spin about one revolution. A little cleaning up and they were spinning like new. Im running a 13t pinion but to get my head up to 1800 Im going to need a 15. I guess I will see if thats too much on the motor. Now the bearings are good I think i will be ok

Fireboy some makers will grease the bearings so they do not rust on the shelf
but should be degreased once someone buys the model imo
just use lite oil (((sheath gun oil)))
