Status: offline 		Wont be long now SDP.  Looking good as new.   I agree that it would have been a shame to scrap it.  So glad you didn't.  A lot less work than building a new one and now it has some experience.  Looking forward to seeing its second maiden flight.

Status: offline 		Reinstalled the struts onto the wings.  I also installed the wing tips skid plates.  Once I purchase the servos they will get installed and the wings will be 100% complete.

In a few hours I plan on painting the red back onto the fusealge.  At that point, other than some small paintwork on the windows, the repainting of the model will be complete and the remainder of the work will be reinstalling the components.  I still have all the linkages and tail brace components so things should be fairly easy.

Status: offline 		As planned, fuselage got its red paint today.  Task went without issue.

My plan is to allow the fuselage paint to sit for a week until fully cured to continue with the rebuild.  At this point it is more or less a reassembly process.

On Tuesday I will touch-up the landing gear parts I have issue with and everything will be ready by next week.

Shouldn't be too long now.

Thanks for all the input guys!  It would have been easy for me to have scrapped this plane and missed the opportunity at this rebuild.

Status: offline 		Today I finished up the paintwork on the landing gear.  I prepared the gear by giving the previous paint a quick sanding then sprayed away.  The paint worked out much better with the warmer outside temperature.

Would it be possible for you to post pictures of the tail wires installation ?

So we could see the attachment to the rudder and the stabilizer.

I am aware that a close up may turn out "out of focus".
Close enough to remain in focus would be great.

It would be much appreciated.

Also what did you use for the wires ?

Because I live in Serbia, country with no RC shops, it is very difficult to find material
for this build. Because I do not have no original plans, I am trying to draw my own
plan and I need help from experience builders. Can you tell me

- what is diameter of front and rear wing struts.
- what balsa thickens is used for making horizontal and vertical stabilizer?

that is it for now but I will probably ask some more questions

Status: offline 		I am ordering parts as my hobby funds allow.  So far I have reinstalled the elevator servos, the elevator rods, and their horns.  All the elevator linkage has been adjusted.  I also installed the rudder servo and its horn.  Lastly, I rewired and installed a Fromeco switch.

My LHS had one Fromeco switch on hand but it was Deans in Deans out.  So, I unsoldered the output Deans at the board, resoldered on some HD servo wire, and installed a servo style end.  Now the switch will plug straight into the receiver.  All the servos are Futaba HV (High Voltage) and are powered via a 2S 2500 mAh Lipo.  The Fromeco switch is a failsafe switch which, if it fails, turn on.

I should have my ESC this seek as well as the Pull-Pull hardware to complete the rudder and tailwheel.

The thicknesses of the stabs is 3/8".

My question about struts, has bin in general, what size of struts SIG recommended.
Somewhere I have seen that on this size of model, recommended struts (made of Spruce) are 15 mm front and 10 mm back strut.

With those single dimensions are we to assume (guess) that those struts are round (circle cross section) ?

If they are to be streamline then two dimensions are needed.
Streamlined struts are usually have their maximum thikness at 40% of their longest dimension (fore and aft).

Would you like me to make and post a sketch ?

How many Cubs have you seen with round struts?  Of coarse they are to be streamline. Misha is just trying to get some information since he has no plan to look at.

Status: offline 		ZOR, I only wanted to know dimensions that i asked and by knowing it I can easy calculate needed dimension.
If it is aluminum it must be as it is, but if I make it form spruce (I think it is on original plan), I will calculate its thickness.
As you can see I did not asked how long strut should be, because it depends on where linkage point will be, so
that information is not relevant for me at this moment.

I know what aluminum struts are used for this plane,
Two 3/4" X 35" Pieces of Streamlined Aluminum (K&S Stock # 1105)
Two 5/8" X 35" Pieces of Streamlined Aluminum (K&S Stock # 1104)
(there is not thickness)
but i only wanted to know what is on original plans.

Status: offline 		5/8" front, 1/2" rear.  They are 1/4" thick.  This is by the original plans.  And, by the way, they come in rectangular stick stock, not round.    If you need more dimensions, let me know!

Status: offline 		Today I reinstalled the Rudder / Tailwheel pull-pull cables.  No changes to the original configuration.  I also installed the Motor and ESC back onto the plane.

The next item on the agenda is the windshield (My Nemesis!!)

Status: offline 		I haven't found the motivation to install the windshield but I have begun the process of putting the instrument panel back in.  A few minutes ago I put the gauges back on the panel.  After the glue from the instruments dry I will install the panel back into the fuselage.

I know, I know!  I hate the windshield. So stressful!

Tomorrow I'm going flying so not tomorrow.

I did order the receiver for my Cub, but there is one catch, it comes with a radio.  I really wanted to have servo speed adjustment so I went ahead and ordered a Futaba 14SG.  I really never liked how fast the flaps snapped into place.  My XMas gift to myself.  The 14SG should be a nice upgrade from my 10C.

I also fly helicopters so the three gyro support of the 14SG will be a welcome addition too.
