I waited and waited for Hitec to come out with a 2.4 radio. My Eclipse went down about 6 months ago and I had to make a purchase. After being a loyal Hitec customer for many years I bought the Futaba 7c. I like the looks of the Aurora- just couldn't wait.

Will the Hitec receivers work with the Futaba transmitters?

No. All 2.4ghz systems are proprietary and are not compatible with each other.

Mike.

Hello Mike:

The Aurora looks great.

The videos were excellent in showing what the radio can do.

Is there a site to download a manual?

I would like to start reading the manual so when I get the Aurora I will be familiar with programing it.

Mike,
That was the original date that I saw on the Tower site. It is now showing mid July for a couple options and August for one option. Receivers being the difference. I had one of these in my hands at Joe Nall and I like it. Just waiting for them to hit. I am sure that the first shipment will all go out to backorders so it may be awhile before they are readily available.
Thanks
Derrick

Tower is not always accurate and I don't know where they would have ever got a June delivery date. The 2.4Ghz system with the 7CH RX will be the first to be delivered. This applies to the Aurora and the module/RX combo's.

Be aware that the 6CH & 9CH versions and RX's are not due for 1-2 months after the 7CH release. Furthermore the synthesized 72Mhz "Spectra Pro" module will not be available for the Aurora until October since the focus has been on the 2.4Ghz release first.

Mike.

Hi there Mike

Loving the look of the new TX and I'll certainly be getting one.

One question thou....... At the moment I run stardard PCM Futaba and Hitec 72Meg RX's in all of my heli's and planes and have a Futaba 9CHP TX. Will I be able to use/buy a module to use in the Aurora9 that will work in these models?? I really dont want to buy 9 new RX's if I can help it.

Thanks in advance

Cheye

Hitec will offer the Spectra Pro synthesized 72mhz module later this year to allow you to operate any FM receiver with the Aurora. However, PCM between brands is not compatible.

Also be aware that we will have a mail in coupon for an additiona RX with the purchase of an Aurora.

Mike.

2 questions

1. I assume that the 72 mhz module will work with older 72mhz receivers, correct? do you have a price on that?

2. Is that coupon on all of the intial packages, and do you have an idea as too how long they will be offering that coupon?

Thanks

It should be compatible with any FM receiver. Price is not set, but I think about $70 for the Spectra Pro module.

The coupon will be valid to at least the end of the year.

Mike.

Hi Mike,

Im in Australia but will be purchasing the Aurora as soon as its released in the US. Im pretty sure the 2.4 system will work worldwide ad theres nothing region specific with them . I gather that later on I can just purchase a 36mhz (we use 36 in Australia) module.

Thanks

The first batch of radios have already shipped and customers were receiving them last week. Depending on where you are on Towers back order list you may be in their 2nd or 3rd batch of shipments. You should check with Tower to see where you are on their list.

I just checked with Tower and they said the 9 channel is expected the end of November. They have not received any shipments of the 9 channel set-up. They did however ship the 7 channel out already and they are now on back order. I talked with the Hitec gang at Joe Nall. Great bunch of guys, but I gotta say, this was not well planned out.

Were you directed to that video via a post by owner, with more information,  elsewhere? System appears correct on his other videos. From the little information supplied, Mike answered query:
Optima Transceiver (RX) - Servo Move Slower Than Usual - Rebind. Switched between Normal <> Scan mode with power off before process completed.
another odd servo reaction worthy of note:
Optima Transceiver (RX) - Servos Stepping - Battery pack (power supply) failing under load.
