The airplane was happily flying at cruise speed, half throttle and the left engine just stopped cold. It was a ways out there and by the time I caught on=too late. I did try the ignition on another engine.Started and ran. Obviously, can't see if the carb works.

Did you find out why the engine quit? Was the left engine the one with the missing muffler?

The left engine is the one that quit. Can't run it,no mufflers.

After the crash, was the engine with no muffler on the left wing of the airplane?

Engine was still cowled. Throttle still hooked up. Most of the left pylon went thru the trees unscathed. Can't say much for the rest of the airplane. I'm opening a tooth pick outlet at the mall!

For the engine that was still cowled, with the throttle still hooked up, where most of the left pylon went thru the trees, did you find the muffler for that engine?

I'm still not clear on your answer to the question I'm asking. One more try.

Was the engine in this picture on the left wing or the right wing?

If the muffler screws, on the left side engine, came loose would the muffler be able to fall out of the cowl before the crash?

There was enough room to fall out.

That is interesting. The muffler comming off of the engine would explain why your engine quit during the flight and also why you can't find the muffler near the crash site.

My muffler used to get loose after three or four 15 min flights and once one of the bolts that held it on came completely out.

Though the screws are still firmly imbedded in the metal on that picture...

It looks like the muffler mounting area underwent a stress fracture... as if something hit it or the muffler was pulled back hard at some point... e.g. a prior crash.

A fracture due to an imperfection in the metal normally results in a smooth cracked area, unlike the sand paper like areas in the photo, or visible large cooling bubbles imbedded in the metal.

I have no time for companies that bugger you around when your trying to give them $ .Imagine how its gonna go when you need them for warrenty etc. Cheers the pope

I my opinion, demand grew faster than supply and Todd was overwelmd by it and not sure what to do. Some folks just shut down when this happens and some work through it. I think when ones works through it they are more prepared the next time. Come on, Its American made and American company. With times like they are now we need more of the little guys. If they truley have them in stock, I would by right now.

I was ready to pull the trigger on one of these engines when they came out.
I didn't then and haven't looked back yet. Not worth all of the problems brought up in these forums over the years.
The way I look at it, Todd has had more than enough time to work out his problems, but has failed as a business man.
I don't mind buying products made in the USA, but am not going to put up with poor service and parts replacement in addition to no internet or phone support for his products.

Greg
