MA and APC are not on the same page for aerobatic and 3D planes,keep the MA on the corsair. Glad you like the new Funtana!

Look at the group all the way at the bottom, "fun fly props"

AngLeo -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/20/2009 6:28 AM)

Ah...I see....the fun flys look more like the MA props,and the others are wider from mid point to the end.Looks like a good place to start is the Fun Fly 16x4,or a MA 16x4 as a second choice .....then maybe the pattern style for later if I seem to need mor pull.Thanks Alot....clarified it.I hope my Tana comes in soon....cant wait....just have to play with my Pulse 125 till then.

anyone have the new Hanger 9 Funtana 125, I'm thinking I need that.

Drag,

The New CRRC GF-26I-V2 - 26cc gas W/ the Funtana 125 might be a great combo.

peinarsson -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/21/2009 9:09 AM)

I was thinking the same thing except the SPE 26 from Cermark. Anyone know if this would fit?

AngLeo -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/21/2009 9:05 PM)

Thats the prop right there, for my Tana and pulse....buyin a box of em'....THX!

JohnB96041 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/22/2009 10:56 PM)

Just got 3 of the 17 x 4W apc props for my funtana 125..... Now, if the wind will go down a little I can try this prop to see if there is an improvement in hover performance. Thanks for directing me to the right web site.

AngLeo -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/23/2009 4:50 AM)

Let us know how that works out....I have props and no plane yet....lookin like the end of Oct. according to HH.There are a few scattered online,but hate doing that,to big of a risk to get a damaged craft from shpping,always better at the Hobby shop,where you can ck. it over before spendin 3 bills.Already have a powerplant...goin with the SAITO 125. I saw here  pages back someone using FUT.3010 standard servos on the Tana,Just wonderin how they work,Do they draw to much power?

JohnB96041 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/23/2009 5:29 AM)

Angleo: The Futaba 3010's have nylon gears and the Funtana 125 could possibly strip the gears on high 3D rates. I use the Futaba 3305 servos which have metal gears and they work great. I use a 1500 mh 4.8 volt battery for all six servos and the rec. No problem with current drain. I usually fly 5 15 minute flights then do a fast field charge of the batterys for another 3 flights. After 8 flights, I usually am ready to stop flying for the day and I go to the house for an all night charge on the rec and trans batteries and the old body.

JohnB96041 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/23/2009 5:35 AM)

AngLeo: In looking back through the posts, it was I that stated shimming the 3010 servos in the tail. That was my mistake. It should have been the 3305 servos.

phantomdriver -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/23/2009 5:53 AM)

What kind of motor do you have on your Funtana?

AngLeo -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/23/2009 5:55 AM)

K....but there basicly the same servos ...one is metal and the 3010 is nylon geared.Same specs,and the 3010 is 10 bucks cheaper.I kinda like nylon cause the develop less play than metal after use,and a new set is only a couple bucks for all the gears.Hum.....just comparing....havent decided or got servos yet,and neither of these are digital.

JohnB96041 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/23/2009 6:05 AM)

I am using the Saito 1.25 with a 16 x 4W APC prop. Just got 3 17 x 4W APC props and will give one a test fly as soon as the weather clears up here in Oklahoma.

TommyRetz -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/23/2009 6:43 AM)

I would not use plastic geared servos on a Funtana. I had only one flight on a Funtana S 90 before aileron flutter tore up the plastic gears on the aileron servos. That was the end of a beautiful plane. On my Funtana S 90 #2, I learned my lesson, went with digital servos to fight any flutter movements around nuetral, metal gears, and metal servo arms, on all control surfaces. That solved the problem. ALso, make sure that you tape the seams on all the control surface joints. Enjoy your new plane, and don't loose it over saving a few dollars on servos!
Tom

I recieved my Funtana125 today what a bird for the money. Has anyone here mounted a MLD28 on one?

I think everyone is waiting for someone to give it a shot!!!! Make it happen and let us know!!!

Burc -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/23/2009 6:43 PM)

I recently got one of these to do a review on.  Look for the review in the coming month.  It is certainly a nice airframe and an improvement over the 90S and X100.

Speaking of, does anyone have one sitting around that you can give me a AUW and weight on the carbon fiber landing gear?

A couple of things I noted while reading this thread, the 125 comes with CF wing tube not aluminum.  The measurement for the shortest part across the elevator servo bay is 2".  I tried to place 2 HT5955 and they seemed to fit.  I was surprised to hear the futabas needed shimming.

I'll try to post some pictures for you all during the build.

BountyHunter51 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/24/2009 4:58 AM)

Burc,
I'm curious about the improvements that you mentioned. Same specs as the X100 and the only thing that I've seen is the addition of an airfoiled tail and an improved (looking) cowl. Can you elaborate a bit please?
Thanks! BH

Burc -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/24/2009 10:15 AM)

BH51, The airfoiled tail section is the most obvious improvement.  There are not so obvious improvements as well such as a single piece canopy, spring load on tail wheel, pre-cut slots for main and ignition switches, better control arms and horns and it comes with an electric motor mount. The cowl is also not screwed in to wood but they have already added blind nuts in the fuse.

JohnB96041 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/24/2009 10:26 AM)

BURC: Another nice improvement is the front of the cowl. No more problems of getting the cowl centered with the back of the spinner. Wide open all the way across. I have 5 flights on my new Funtana 125 and love it. Flys better than the x100. Don't have the SFG's yet. They are still on backorder.

Burc -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/24/2009 10:35 AM)

Good point, I think it looks better too. Almost resembles an extra 260 style cowl.  I saw the SFGs were backordered as well.  I actually liked the X100 without the SFGs.

BountyHunter51 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/24/2009 6:31 PM)

Thanks for the quick reply and the info.
I wonder if it would be possible to mod the X100 to the airfoiled tail without too may headaches and it if would be worth the effort.
I might explore this route with my X100 over the next bit.
Thanks again. Cheers! BH

AngLeo -> RE: New Funtana 125 (10/25/2009 6:12 AM)

The SFGs dont come with the Kit?...Thought they did.Do you tape the entire surface across and on both sides....I have my new ,2nd, Pulse125 build going on now ,while waiting for the TANA125....I only did the bottom and added CA to the pre-installed surfaces,and locktighted the horns.And the pulse is built like the Tana...all over it has preinstalled blind nutserts,really nice...You guys are right.I will put the best servos I can afford in it,metal for sure after the latest post regarding them!! I'll save the plastic for the pulse...THX!
