I was looking at the specifications on the Funtana S.90 ,the X100 and the new Funtana 125 its all the same? The wing area 1,1o8 wing span 69.5 overall length 68.5 other than the Side-force generators on the Funtana .90 its looks like its the same plane but the cool new, painted trim scheme. My new Funtana 125 will be here this week!!!!

Drag: Great. I am waiting for my second Funtana 125. It should be at the LHS by Wed of this week. I have another Saito 125, and a Saito 1.00. Either would work as a second Funtana. Hope to get some jealous eyes at the field when I show up with 2 of these great flying airplanes. I am still thinking about going all electric on the second one. Just to see how it flys. I lost my Funtana S90 this summer due to throwing the rec battery out of the plane. Still have the Funtana x100. It really flys great with the side force generators that CAME WITH THE KIT. Now you have to purchase the SFG's extra or or or make your own.

Ok guys I've heard alot about the New Funtana 125 fa months now and who plan to use which motor, which servos, which batteries and recently saw some cool hangar pictures etc...... I'm almost sick of watching HH video of the Tana w/Saito 20cc which to me, the 20cc doesn't seem as if it has enough power for this model. Who's gonna be the first to post some footage of this bird in action with something other than a Saito 20cc? Lets see what the Funtana 125 can do.

Here is mine with MLD 28cc. Have not flown it yet, still braking in, hope to fly it next weekend.

Hey peninarsson, how does the Funtana 125 fly with the MLD 28?

peinarsson -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/16/2009 5:52 PM)

Alright guys, flew mine with the MLD 28 on the weekend, did only a couple of flight as the stock tail gear bent out in the first flight...(and it was not that hard of a landing). I installed stronger tail gear last night. The MLD is not fully broken in yet, got it running around 7800 with a 18/6 Zess prop. I have 2700mha battery strapped at the back of the wing tube and a 1600 battery for the ignition on the side of the firewall. As for CG then I added 1/2 oz on the tail and it was perfect. Lot's of power and only few feet for takeoff... I will keep tuning her in this week and keep you posted, but first impressions, awesome...

peinarsson -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/16/2009 10:01 PM)

I have no idea why it's posted this picture that big...I thought it should just be a thumbnail?

w8ye -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/16/2009 10:57 PM)

You did nothing wrong. Something didn't work on the RCUniverse computer for posting images

RACJ -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/17/2009 1:53 AM)

If you click the click for fullsize,it becomes smaller and you see the plne good. Looks like the 28cc went in the cowl real nicely. I'm real interested in this combination. THANKS,RACJ

peinarsson -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/17/2009 2:13 AM)

It fitted in there real easy RACJ, and the cutout was very simple. I do have to take the spark plug off when I put the cowl on and take it off though.

AngLeo -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/17/2009 4:30 AM)

I do this to on all my planes.....I used to just use toothpicks....then toothpicks with a dab of ca....now to make even stronger, on my New Tana 125,I'll use the tip of t-pins with a dab of CA, thru both sides of the surface....then put a tiny drop of white paint on them before sealing.Ya dont even see them when done and there bullet-proof...but,seen a thing like flutter blow tails or rods/linkages apart....scary to say the least.Havent finished the Tana....dought I will before the snow.Anyone still having balance issues?...I plan on a Saito 1.25,fut.dig.MG servos...dont want to add a ton of weight,add want to set-up with the factory servo positions.

Drag -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/19/2009 1:24 AM)

Just had to order a new Saito 1.25, JohnB got me thinking I needed a new Saito any how but there out of stock must be all the new Funtana's.

JohnB96041 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/19/2009 1:43 AM)

Drag: Just to let you know, I followed the breakin instructions in the manual exactly. After the 2nd gallon of fuel, I adjusted the valves and fine tuned the carb and have not had to do any further adjustments. Have been flying the Saito 1.25 engine now for 3 years. It took about 2 full gallons of fuel to get the full power from the engine so don't give up. These engines last a long, long time.

JohnB96041 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/19/2009 1:47 AM)

Drag: If you put the Saito 1.25 into the new Funtana 125, I suggest you get the 90 degree exhaust adaptor. Part number in the manual is WRONG. Need part number SAI125A140. This will allow a cutout in the bottom of the cowl per the instruction manual. You will be able to remove the cowl without removing the muffler, header pipe, etc.

Drag -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/19/2009 3:52 AM)

Thanks John: I'll get that 90 degree exhaust adapter. This is my first Saito 1.25 My other ones are Saito 1.00,82,56, great engines.

AngLeo -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/21/2009 6:17 AM)

Well...Im well on my way on the Tana 125 build.THEN to my surprise,I unwrap the wing and stab tubes AND THEYRE BOTH CARBON FIBER!!....I have the latest kit that just now became in stock.The box says alum....but the manual and contents are Carbon.The kit is SWEEEEET!....All parts there and all is first rate....every piece!I really like the one pc. canopy/hatch...really nice.The landing gear is Alum. still,Seems they changed the kit in spots...like the CF parts and it now lists the correct # for the 4 stroke exhust angle for Saito1.25...ending in A140.I ordered all the servos,Going with FUT>3050's at the wings and rear.They seem to be a good choice,Digital,Metal and has 90oz of torque.Also on order is the powerplant....Going with the Saito 1.25 Golden knight...(thought the gold would be a nice touch and got for the price of the stand AAC).The Landing gear mount definatly needs a beef-up.I will take some time and put this baby together perfectly,Snow almost here so I have alot of time.Does anyone think this set-up is good?,servos sufficient enough?.I just hope I wont have to add a ton of weight to the plane for balance.Will post pics when shes more assembled.This is really a nice bird,cant wait to fly her!

JohnB96041 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/21/2009 6:28 AM)

AngLeo: Sounds like some good choices to me. Yes, do beef up the landing gear. I added a 1/4" plywood box on the inside of the body and used epoxy to secure it to the landing gear block. Then put 1/8" hardwood squares epoxied to the box corners. All of this is epoxied to the former at the front of the landing gear block and epoxied to the sides of the body. So far, it has held up real good. I fly from a grass runway that is not all that smooth but works for me.

AngLeo -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/21/2009 4:59 PM)

Yea...me too....not so smooth grass runway.Can handle wheel pants though.I have some nice plywood for the beef-up job.Then,on to the hinges/control horns.I thought about HD nylon hinges,but they dont seem to keep the gap very close and are very thick compared to the CA hinges.So, I will stick to the stock hinges and install pins thru the surfaces/hinges and seal them well.Should I seal both sides?...Man these alerions are HUGE!.....dont want to risk anything coming even close to loose.I will definatly need to learn to keep speed down,goin with APC 16x4W...this should help.Been flying my Pulse125 at lightning fast speeds,But she can handle it....And the Tana is not designed for it.Amazing that the high rate throws are 3 to 4"! ....thats alot of movement! Since this is my first 3D craft,not used to seeing a flap raise to what seems to be a Foot!...should be great fun learning the moves.Cant wait         THX!

Drag -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/22/2009 12:43 AM)

AngLeo I think you only need to seal the one side? I got my Plane today and the Saito 1.25 is on the way with the 90 and a Tru-turn that APC 16X4W is the prop I'm putting on my Funtana 1.25 this thing look great.

JohnB96041 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/22/2009 12:51 AM)

Ok Gents: Once you have flown the Funtana 125 with the Saito 1.25 and a 16 x4w, give it a try with a 17 x 4w. What a difference, and the Saito 1.25 will handle the extra 1" of prop just fine.

Drag -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/22/2009 1:04 AM)

JohnB, Did you seal the surfaces on just one side on your first Funtana 1.25 ?

JohnB96041 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/22/2009 1:06 AM)

If you are talking about sealing the hinge line between the wing and aileron, yes. I sealed them on the bottom side. Same with the tail feathers, on the bottom. Rudder was sealed on only one side.

Drag -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/22/2009 1:16 AM)

Ok thanks that's what I was thinking, I never have done both side. Did you get your other Funtana 1.25 yet?

JohnB96041 -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/22/2009 1:45 AM)

Will go to Oklahoma City on Wed of this next week to pick up the second one. LHS is Mike's Models. Great guy, great information and his son is Sean McMurtrey. I think that is how he spells his last name.

AngLeo -> RE: New Funtana 125 (11/22/2009 1:49 AM)

Cool....bottom side it is then.The scheme on top doesnt deserve to be messed with anyways...sure is purdy!,I will try diff props,thought of a 17",theres plenty of height.
