Hey everyone,
I am having problems tuning my YS 1.40 DZ and I replaced the plug yesterday and noticed that the little copper washer wasnt there. Could that be my problem? Am i getting a loss of compression, or waht is happenin without that washer? I have yet to run the engine with the new glow plug but i will tonight after work. Thanks.

Adam

I don't think that's your problem?

The washer can increase compression slightly if removed and also promote a little seepage from the glowplug.

Yet, it makes a very minor difference in the way the engine runs.

So i get more compression without the washer? Why is the washer there then?

It is there to act as a gasket, it is softer than either the glow plug or the head and gives in to their imperfections and seals what the threads do not. As to your question about FWD vs RWD, if you revert back to the horse and buggy days "pull up" would mean stop at the window.
