I have been building and flying RC planes for about 15 years and one of the kids in the neighborhood asked me to help fix his RC10GT car.  At first things seemed pretty complicated, but pretty soon after, I was able to fix just about anything on that car.  Also, it gave me the bug to buy my own.

SO!  I bought a used Traxxas Nitro Rustler 2.5r that is just about stock.

I was wondering if you guys would help me figure out what needs to be replaced / upgraded first.  I will be using this mostly on a local dirt track and maybe the backyard.  I do not intend to be bashing this and attempting to make really huge jumps.

BTW, pics or links to the upgraded parts would be most helpful!  Also, if you have an upgraded Nitro Rustler, I'd love to see some pics of what you've done.

Thanks for your responses!

BTW, here is a pic of my rustler....

This post belongs in the Nitro Stadium Truck forum, not the Monster Truck Forum.  I would relist there as you'll get a whole lot more responses.

Anyhow, my buddy has a nitro Rustler and it's bulletproof, but almost everything has been replaced.  I'll list the parts that are basically mandatory first, and then the rest.  Mandatory: RPM front bumper, RPM A-arms, RPM shock towers, better shocks; this will be enough to make it almost bulletproof and drive better.  Optional, but worth it:  Remove the EZ-Start and install a pull start, New Era Aluminium Top Plate, Aluminium or RPM knuckles/castor blocks(I prefer aluminium, because you won't bend hinge pins), Lunsford Titanium Turnbuckles, higher power steering servo; I think I'm missing one or two things, but that's about it.  His truck is now indestructible, but it's also got $4-500 in parts in it now too.
