Need help... New to electric. Wanting to order some batteries from Hobby King. Here ismy question First let me say that I am a aircraft person. Looking at 3Cell 11.1V 2200mAh 30C batteries. There are some listed as 3S1P and some listed as 3S. What is the difference?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

They are the same thing...........  They just leave the 1P off.  The next step up would be a 3S2P but that will double the cell count and the capacity so it would be 11.1v and 4400mah capacity.

Good Luck
Bob

1P means that there are 0 parallel connections in the pack. If you have a 3S1P it is three cells of the rated mah all in series, if you have 3S2P, then you have 6 cells in the pack. Two cells of whatever rating divided by two are put together in parallel. This is done three times and these three groups of two are put in series to give you the 3S or in the case of lipo, 11.1V.

I generally like to use 1P packs so that any cell imbalances are minimized. The more cells you have, the greater risk of imbalance and loading of one cell over another. If they leave off the P, then I think it is safe to assume there are no parallel connections in the pack. 2P packs are generally more short and wide than long and skinny.
