Hey My Brothers,

Anyone have any feed back on the Tiger 1 hull?

Opinion on the latch system?

Where does the battery go?

Are the axels easier to work with?

I've been looking to replace the lower hull on TIGER 304, but want to make sure that kind of investment is worth the trouble.

Thanks Fellas!

I just picked one up today actually from a fellow tanker. It looks quite good (heavy- it has the metal wheels and metal tracks) and came with 3/1 metal gears. I will need to take it for a spin with some new electronics soon. I haven't installed the hatch system yet

Love it. I ordered mine from Bill at RC Command. Inside the hull there is a place for everything to be mounted on a subfloor. The only fault I found is that the metal road wheels are pressed together and after running they fall apart. I fixed this by applying JB Weld to hold them together as they really never need to be split apart. I also made my battery fully internal by adding a charging port that is hidden under the backside of the tank and moved my switches to the commanders hatch. As far as performance, the tank is a lot heavier and IMO has more realistic movement. If you decided to get the metal hall it is highely recommended to get the 3:1 gear boxes or the steal gear boxes. Plastic ones will not hold up and the metal (made out of pot metal) gear boxes may fail as mine did. From my experiance heres a list of things that you will most likely need...

-3:1 steel gear boxes
-Metal tracks
-Metal sprockets and idlers
-cooling fan on the main board
-relocate switches and add a charging port underneith the hatches.
-paint

I think this is the best mod you can do for the Tiger. Mine has worked out great. The battery lays right on the plastic components tray supplied with the hull. It even has an elastic cord that secures the battery in place.

Looks like a winner Panther!

Guess I'll have to give her a try! Thanks for the pictures! Just one thing. How does the deck lock to the hull?

hi,
about your question inregards the docking of the upper hull.. the metal hull has a sliding metal at the rear part of the hall/top of the tensioner also at the front of the lower hull. it locks pretty good and fits good as well.. but there are screws provided if you want to.. but mine i ddnt used the screws.
i relocated all my switches at the back exhaust of the tank (power, smoke, sound and the battery connector/charger) alsp i readjusted the suspension bars to make it like the real one...
the hull doesnt tend to bend from the weight of the tank.

overall the metal hull is a great upgrade for the tiger I.. hope in the future there will be a upper metal hull.. hehehehe

Chinito, sorry to throw another question at you, but I just received mine today. What did you do to readjust the suspension bars, and what did it accomplish??

no problem ern..
i readjusted the suspersion at the rear part.. (two of them) so that the rear of the tank woundnt to too high..
theres a screws at the bttom part of the hull that holds the suspension of the tank but just a WARNING. Putting it back is the hard part...
what i did is i removed it and twsted suspension wire a lil bit but i didnt moved/adjust the swing arms because if you'll adjust the swing arms, the rear part of the tank will be too low..

Well, I finally got mine and started transferring all the guts over to it last night. How many screws have you others been able to get to hold your gearboxes down. I found one hole that lined up good in the inside middle into the metal plate, and one in the front that screws into plastic but they didn't seem like they had a real good grab. [I'm installing the steel gears from RC Command] Is that all that holds them in there or am I missing something? Should I drill extra holes in the metal plate to better secure the gearboxes??

These mounts don't have any slide holes. When checking I did find another one that I missed on the right gearbox, but that hole doesn't line up with anything on the left side

I'm an airsoft shooter so I stayed with an RX14 board. I haven't mounted the wheels yet [stupid job keeps slowing me down] but should get them primed and a base coat in the next couple days

If you are putting in the smoker, put it in first. It screws in from the bottom of the plastic tray. I screwed the tray in, then started installing components and was putting the smoker in last. Had to take the speaker off and unscrew the tray from under the hull to install it... it's a nice setup and I really like the locking lever. NO MORE SCREWS TO OPEN IT UP!!

It is, but it will settle down with the torsion bars stretching. That is why when you store your tanks for a period of time you take the weight off of the torsion bars so as to not pre wear them out. A little extra weight in the rear of the tank should help if you just don't like the rear so high but mine also has NEW metal tracks on it so the adjustable idler is all the way forward too, Once the tracks stretch a little I can readjust the idlers and the rear will come down some.
