I've seen 5000 mah receiver packs but mostly I see packs around 1500 mah. How big are your receiver packs and how long do they last on one charge?

I have a 5 cell 6V 1600 mAh receiver pack powering two high amp draw digital servos using my Futaba 3PKS, it lasts long enough and in-between taking breaks I put it on the charger just so it lasts the whole day. Its very important that there's no binding in the steering system, make sure it moves as freely as possible! Also make sure you servos are not trying to turn your wheels past the point from which your wheels can physically turn, this will ensure lower power consumption and long servo life.

I use 1500mah 7.4v lipos with a regulator and they last longer than I usually want to run in one sitting. If not then I have another as back up.

The space allowed will determine how big you can go as for size of battery. MAH is important for run time.

Probably, unless you're using the newer servos designed to run with the higher voltage....I believe most Rx's will be fine on 7.4 volts...
