There are a lot of pro and cons on oil breakin and changes after breakin.

sort of curious .when you start the new engine in my case a dle30 after say a couple gallons do you ever change the ratio of oil to gas mix.does the time of season ever play into your decision??

Nope, 32:1 from the first run then on forever, summer, winter, fall or spring, rain, hail, sleet, snow, or shine. Your engine will thank you for it.

hey there .hows your new digs going.nice of you to chime in.I asked that question because I had my generator serviced and the tech mentioned to put in 30 wt. oil for the upcoming winter.so I wondered if flying in really cold weather affected 2 stroke gassers.I am using sthil ultra oil mixed with regular gas.hoping to fire it up later today or sat.

I need some ideas about my DLE 30 rear carb. I am running it in a GP Giant Super Sportster with a Xoar 19X8 prop. Stihl Ultra HP at 32:1. The problem is that it dies every time I go into an inverted nose down position. Battery is a 2 cell LiFe pack for the complete system. Rx and ignition. Voltage is reduced to approx. 5 volts via diodes for the ignition. I can fly it level inverted without problems. If I attempt to do an inverted flat spin, it quits every time.

I believe the needles are set appropriately. But possibly just a touch rich on the high side.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks....Alan

I had the same problem. When I would do blender and come up on the power flame out. I talked to jedi jody at VVRC the master, and he told me to richen the low end even though I had good throttle transition, well it fixed the problem.

Thanks guys. really had me stumped as my DLE 20's run perfectly regardless of the plane's attitude. The weather here is wet due to rain. Will try to fly again on Saturday or Sunday. Will let you know if this was the problem.

Thanks again.....Alan

I have found that black smoke coming out of the exhaust at idle works for me , best test is that the motor always comes back to a nice idle after giving the motor heaps  during the flight .

I got a chance to fly today. I richened the low end a bit and the engine did not die, but still sagged badly. Adjusted again a bit more rich and the sagging was gone.
Thanks for the help gentlemen. It is much appreciated.

tailheavy - I'm thinking of transitioning from APC to Xoar props, but the carbon fiber are a bit too pricey for me. Are the Xoar wood props also more efficient than APC also? Seems they're about the same price. I'm a little concerned over the wood being more fragile in ground strikes, too. Any feedback is appreciated.

APC does not wind up like wood, recommendation , don't strike the ground, XOAR's work just fine

I have had good luck with Xoar. I prefer wood over because they spool up faster and in case of a ground strike, they will break before bending the crank.
I learned that from experience with a Zenoah 23.

Thanks. I'll try the Xoars. And try to avoid ground strikes. (just like I try to avoid low-altitude stalls, outright crashes, flying in a cross-wind...)

But i still see all the questions repeated on the horizon, would be nice to just filter out just actual information, might be a top notch DLE Manual after that.
