Hi everybody,

I was wondering if someone could tell me the best combination of type of fuel to glow plug type and heat range to outside temp, roughly looking for a 80 to 105 outside temp with about 30 to 50 % hum.

I have the landslide lt with the sh .18 team infinity power plant

also if somebody has a link they can post to show me examples on how to polish this baby up the right way would be greatly appreciated..

I use hot plus like the os3 or the mccoy 59 i think it is. And just use 20 percent nitro, i like bryons and im about to try trinity monster horsepower, heard it was good. And im in 100+degree weather.

if you live in FL you are at sea level run a Med Plug with 20% unless you got money to burn and want to buy a new motor every 3 months 30% is more a race fuel that someone uses to get the most power but does not care if the motor lasts 5 tanks of gas. Heat is very very bad for a nitro motor. keep it cool

i use a mccoy 59 plug and traxxas 20% fuel. i havent had any issues with tuning or heat

If you like Monster Horsepower, try Wildcat's fuel. Wildcat brews the fuel for Trinity, and its also selling at a lower price.

i use the o.s. and mccoy plugs #3 with 20% traxxas top fuel. own 3 redcats and never replaced a motor yet and glow plugs last quite a while.

os a3 plugs and byrons 20% on a small block....os 8 on a big block...however I've talked to folks that run os 8's on everything and some run os a3's on everything...I've also heard good things about mccoy 59's....personally I wont run 30% nitro due to engines wont last as long...yeah they may go faster but not for as long...if I wanna go faster I put a better engine on it or tweek the gears...

thanks everybody, looks like I have a few options to go with,
yeah I was thinking that running 30% would make it run hotter which is what I am battling along with tuning problems, seems like when I run the hsn right on the edge of rich it is sluggish till about half speed, by time I get halfway out of range it starts to clear up and wants to take off, if I lean it out it wants to shut off when let off the throttle, there is no in between so I was thinking that the plug I am using wasn't hot enough or maybe it is getting too used, so just getting some ideas on some new plugs to try, thanks to everyone for their input
I am running traxxas 20% with a n3 glow plug, I have heard that traxxas fuel has alot of oil it it and causing the plugs to burn out faster so I think that I will be trying a diff fuel as well..

You need to lean out your lsn. If its good at top end but sluggish at low end its the lsn

all that does it make it worse, I can put the lsn at the factory setting and be good, low end is good, its the high speed I am having problems with,like I was saying about the hsn, it will be right on the edge of being to rich where it won't clear up till after half speed or half rpm, by then I am getting to my range limit, if I lean it out just the 30* turn so it won't run so rich it will run good but shut off when I let off the throttle after a high speed pass, no matter where the lsn is positioned, I think once I get a good plug and decent fuel I will have better results and easier tuning capabilities

Try the new plug but i think its your lsn, Because you hsn affects the lsn too, and if the hsn is good, but your low end lacks, when you lean the hsn it leans the lsn thus making your low good, but you hsn to lean and cutting out.

Sharing my own experience with landslide with u my man. I found that the settings on shifting Earlier or later on your two speed tranny in landslide also affect the way engine behaves. a good tuning did not work well on engine when the tranny wasn't shifting on right time. engine struggled to shift to 2nd gear then died, cuz lower gear ratio, less speed, more RPM. Then I adjusted the Tranny to shift earlier n I find that truck turned into beast Engine did not quit, I got good speed, good acceleration n awesome jumps. so here what you need to do.

Put the Truck on block, wheels free.

Now set your high end right first. see if you can get full RPM, then richen it out a tiny bit to be on safe side.

Now set the LSN, see if you have good idle to partial response without loosing your good idle speed, that is engine don't die on idle. my landslide engine runs sweet on idle, unless I pinch the fuel tube, it keeps on humming sweet.

Now set the tranny. Make it shift a bit earlier. (loosen the screw inside the tranny) if you don't know how to set tranny shifting time, check n search on www.youtube.com/alishanmao "how to adjust shifting time" etc.

Once this is set. you are going to find that this truck is amazingly fast, very stable n will amaze you with some high balanced jumps.

as far as traxxas fuel making glow plugs bad due to oil content I'm not sure...I do know first that the high oil content in traxxas fuel can cause the one way bearing slip on vx and sh engines...

i heard that if you put ur nitro on a block and rev it up it will damage the motor cuz it gets to high rpms to easily and it may damage the rod

Yea. It's a great way to get the rod to spit right through the side of the block. Nitro motors can not free rev, BIG no no. I have seen some customers pop there motor when they lose the remote signal and the car runs off and hits a curb and strips the spur and free revs wide open then POP!

Wanted to update some of you that have responded with possible solutions to try.

after getting a well known plug(hot) I thought I would step outside before going out for supper and see what the new plug could do, well.. love story short while trying to get it to start I was priming the carb by plugging the exhaust, put the ignitor on and started to pull nothing, primed again(quickly while the ignitor was still on) and guess what, it started. well curious me thought maybe i could keep it running by tapping the exhaust to keep the fuel coming and it worked, it stayed running so then I thought, wait a minute, stuck my finger over the exhaust and still ran, left it there and pulled on the trigger and it revs up while the exhaust is plugged???????   my NEW exhaust port, the backplate. who would have thought (warning sign, all that oil on the back of the engine and pull start)

I haven't even heard or read that going through all these forums, so which in turn is making it run lean cause the fuel tank not having that backpressure from the exhaust.
once I get a new one I shall keep you all updated on its performance.
