Hopefully, creating a build thread will keep me motivated. I try to build a kit or two a year. I have always wanted to build this kit. The HOB kits fit togther so well and I can normally finish one in a couple of weeks. We will see! This is a couple of hours and one wing panel is almost complete.........

Believe it or not< i bought this kit here on RCU a couple of weeks ago for $25! Yes, I was excited about it. (below is a link to the ad)
I will be using a 46FX (brand new) and standard servos. It will need the standard servos for tail weight with this motor.

How cool is this, an HOB kit I have never seen. I wouldn't mind building that one myself!! Keep the thread going!!

Nice price on the kit! That's one cool thing about RCU. Sometimes you can find a good deal in the classifieds.

Your A7 is going to be a real rocket ship with the 46FX, I like it!

Great build, very clean workmenship you have there on your wing![:D], arent you affraid that the .46 will be waaaaay to much... Don get me wrong def extra power is a muct in my book but that is almost 2x the engine even at the rated high end being a .28...arent you afraid of it being to much[:@]? i would be afraid that it would required TONS of tail weight, I could be wrong jsut wondering.... Looking forward to you build and maiden! if the rest of your plane looks as sharp and quality as that wing I bet you could put a .61 in it! [:)]

You know, I have been thinking about that and really looking hard at the plans. This motor is definately too much power. I will try to find a 25FX.
I spent a couple more hours tonight on the left wing. I still need to sand the edges and clean it up some ( but my eyes are crossed b/c its too late!). I just cant stand leaving a major part half built. So, more tomorow. Thanks very much for the compliments.........

I was thinking maybe this engine, its more then the .25ax as far as power, and for some wierd reason is 10.00 cheaper....[8|] wierd.Amd its only lik .2 oz heavier then the .25, bet you could find a buyer for that new .46 and more then pay for one of these.... Wings look great! You do great work, no gaps glue marks....wann build some kits for me hahha[:D][;)]. Will be following. What do you plan on covering with? Have you considered some sort of fabric so you can put a great looking paint finish on her....?[:)] Not sure of the weight diff between that and other plastic iorn on but it should be close and would look much better IMHO. just wondering..

Thanks for the link. I have not seen that motor before! Thanks for the compliments, but believe me, it is not perfect! Pictures always make my building look better...........

Thanks for the link. I spent a fair amount of time on the aileron rods, making groves,etc for both wings. I will join nthe wings tonight and fiberglass the center of the wing. Thats the plan anyway. I like to use wall patch as a filler. It dries very quickly and sands into dust very easily. I used it on all the little low spots and pin holes from pinning it to the plan. Coming along pretty nicely. I am a 9 year old, by the way!

This airplane should really scoot. "Scoot" is an old guys term lol. It'll be really quick.

Wow, building skills like that and 9 years old??! Imagine what you'll be building in 10 years, you do excellent work!!! To bad the rest of the "new and upcoming fliers" don't learn to build, most do all ARFs, I am loving this build even more now haha..

Just kidding about being 9. Thats my daughter, she loves to hang out with me and talk airplanes. I take my daughters to work with me every chance I get in the summer. We went to Jackson Hole, Wy last week for 4 days. Just me and my girls, hiking and having a good time! Anyway, the wings are joined and the center is drying with the wall patch. I will have to let it dry all night and fiberglass it and put on the wingtips tomrw. Then comes the fuselage!

You are right about ARF's taking over. She did build her own parkflyer from a kit. It was alot of fun teaching her. She really likes airplanes. I just hope she flies her own airplane when shes grown and does not fly for a living! Aviation has been really good to me, but it is just not what it used to be"(

I have one of these kits squirreled away for a future build. But for those of you interested in building one be advised that this was construction article in Model Airplane News so plans are still available. Also, the guy that designed and wrote the article for MAN may still be producing the molded parts.

Looking forward to this build. I don't recall but I think the horizontal stabs are full flying. I seem to remember when this kit first came out that guys warned that the plane had a hard time pulling out of dives so building a conventional stab and elevators might be more prudent. Might be worth doing some research.

My last little HOB plane was the Cub and I had the OS .25FS, FX or FP?? Installed in it. It tore the stab right off of it on one take off!! I haven't ever seen your plane but a .25 may be about right??

I liked the idea of using the oversize OS 46FX but I guess it would be too heavy. Lighter the better I guess.

OK, I could not put the wing down until it was complete. I glued the wingtips on (blocks) and filled my garage with balsa dust until they looked about right. I fiberglassed the center section. Also, I did a little shopping today for the fuselage. Now the fun begins. I always build the wing first because I always dread doing it. I stress over the proper washout and the straightness. The wing turned out excellent and I am thrilled about it. I got a little behind schedule on the wing, but I would rather get it perfect now rather than later. I just want it to fly as well as possible. Now, comes the fuselgage!

I will paint it in the grey and green scheme. I have always liked that scheme.
