Just got my Super Brain 989. Loving it so far.. easy to use, lots of features, quiet operation. Got a few questions:

1. The charger has a gap on the front (see attached picture).. is this normal? Also if you shake the charger, you can hear something rattling inside.

2. Right now I'm charging a brand new Team Orion 3800 2S lipo. It's been in trickle (CV) mode for 40 minutes now. After the fast charge it went from 3.8A to 0.64A. Right now it's at 0.0A but still in trickle mode. Is it normal for it to take this long to charge? Should I wait for it to stop, or should I press the stop button myself after the fast charge?

3. I tried the power supply mode by hooking up a 12V .20A computer fan. After I hit start, the fan would run but the speed would be inconsistent. The output voltage would drop then rise back to 12v and then drop and so on. Any explanation?

I think mine did that too, it was a piece of glue, sealant inside. If you open the case to remove it , then the case can be assembled "lined up" in the front before tightening screws.

2 sounds normal and you can stop anytime during the cv stage.

3 sounds normal too, it tries to regulate and springs back and forth on a light load.

This does not sound correct when using the 989 as a 12v supply it should be able to put voltage as needed. I just tried to use mine as a 12 supply and it will not run another lipo charger balancer from E-Flite for my plane it only came with aligator clips for 12-15V supply. I winded up using just the 15V supply by its self its actually 15.5V that feeds the 989. I don't have the connectors yet to go from the 989 to the E-Flite lipo 3C 3200MAH Batt yet so I can use the 989 to charge with..Any Ideas If this is how the 989 works it will not
run a test motor or lath..I will call them next week. Anyone with Ideas On how to use the 989 as a 12V power supply as its advertised or will I need to get a variable 12 power supply..Thanks for any info in advance..

The 989's power supply mode won't run another charger, it's for running a lathe or breaking in a motor. You can just hook up your charger to the power supply, much simpler that way.

I have used my 989's power supply mode to break-in a couple of motors. Works fine
