Hey everyone.
I am about to maiden my DP ultimate and just checking to see i have all the wrinkles ironed out. I am running 4 futaba 3004 servos in the ailerons, one hitec mini servo for the throttle, a very hi torque digital for the elevators, and a 1/4 scale servo for the rudder. Dave Patrick suggested using a 600 mah battery for this setup, does this seem a little bit small for this airplane? The help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I wouldn't use less than a 1100 mah battery for this, If it were mine it would have a 1650 mah nimh battery in it

How much weight do you think a 1100 or 1650 mah batt would add?

The nimh battery's are about the same weight or a little lighter than the 600 mah nicad.

Hi
I have used 1650...1700...& 1750 4.8 volt NMH for years
with no problems at all

Your best of with a fast charger with the higher capacity battery packs instead of a trickle charger

Just make sure you have a charger that will charge NIMH, I use all Nicad in all my planes, 33% to jets.

I will stick to Nicads for now just for the sake of saving money (my ulty has used most of it). I think i will have to go bigger. my voltwatch goes to the yellow when i move all the control surfaces, so it cant handle the current. Phew, good thing i didnt fly this. Thanks for all your help. Do you think 1100mah is big enough its almost double, but i may go bigger just to be safe.

Personally Id go 1100 minimum. The more MAH the more you can fly between charges. Can it take the weight of a 1800 pack?

What is the weight difference between a 1800 and a 600? Aobut 3 times as much? I want to keep the plane around 12 lbs. Its 12lbs 3 oz, with the current battery. Thanks.

Im not sure, have to check some places online, the 1800 is a pretty big batt pack.

The 1100 should be good, just check the battery after each flight so you know.

Yeah, I have a volt watch, so that should help me keep track. Thanks.

I would use 1400maH if NiCad or 1800maH for NiMH
