Several years ago I built a Dream Catcher Hobbies Toucan T60R. It was a fun build, looked great, and flew very well. However, on an early flight as a result of a landing that seemed pretty routine, the fiberglass fuselage cracked across the area just forward of the wing leading edge where the back of the hatch fit in. I never could get a decent repair and after several attempts I gave up and "retired" the model.

Recently I acquired another kit and this time I'd like to strengthen that area during the build. I've considered the following:
- building up the area on the inside with carbon fiber tape or extra glass cloth layers.
- adding a carbon fiber skid from the nose back to the wing midpoint as a kind of a "spine" for the fuselage bottom.
- a combination of both.

Any other suggestions are welcome. My experience with carbon fiber and fiberglass cloth is quite limited, so "how to" suggestions and tips are welcome too. Thanks in advance.

I have a pretty decent grounding in Composites but if you could possibly  take a few photo's and post them up, It would help to give a proper repair technique

Yea, a picture would help.

If you plane doesn't have it you might want to put a strut that goes across the fuse right where the leading edges are on the fuse. The strut will keep the leading edges from pinching in and breaking the fuse. I used 1/4 pine dowel on some of my past planes.
