The pic of the plane looks deceivingly small - it is a 2M plane.

I really like the look of Oxai planes. My daydreams got shattered when I saw the discontinuation of the Pinnacle.

Is this Jason's WC airplane Matthew? Again, it has a Jasonesque color scheme.

This is Bryan's. Not aware of who, if anyone, will be flying this. Bryan's been working on this biplane for a little over a year, I'm glad to see it's finally coming around...

Again:

This is Bryan's. I'm not aware of who, if anyone, will be flying this. Bryan's been working on this biplane for a little over a year, I'm glad to see it's finally coming around... I barely know Jason, and the most interaction I've ever had with him is when I sold him a YS .61 2-stroke a couple years ago on that auction web site we're not allowed to mention on RCU. I'm not about to speak for him. Didn't he win the team selection trials with the Integral?

Hefty price tag puts it out of my league but a beautiful plane.

I like it... cant wait to hear how it flies and reacts to the canopy forward etc..

BRYAN... WHERE ARE YOU?

Hi

The reality is that Oxai is now dominating the pattern world and also caters for the lower classes with the new 110 size. The talk is that most of their product line will be reduced to the 110 size with the Axiome 110 being the first of many to follow. I have yet to hear of one "bad" plane they have released with any bad flying tendencies and their co-partner inputs make for great planes. Some might question the price, but believe me, once you have owned one, assemble motor and radio in a few nights, you will buy a second, third ,fourth....

Brian, your design looks like a master piece, congratulations. Can't wait to see where all the bi-planes are going to place at the w/c.

Burt

Bryan has not flown the production model yet. I do recall a few of the highlights from his flight testing on the prototype: there was no roll couple, and the rudder was so effective it required almost no rudder on knife-edge and the knife-edge loops were effortless.

Thanks Mfrederick,

What is the roll stability of the model like? I checked out the Oaxi pictures and the wings look very narrow out at the tips (little wing area at the tips). The model has wicked-cool lines. Just wondering what the flying tendancies are like.
Thanks,
Jim

Bryan would be better suited to answer that question, but I did film the maiden and watched the subsequent flights, and it looked solid moving through the air. There were no evident stability issues that I could see.

Less area at the wing tips enhances many things including roll capability and snapping capability. Roll stability comes from having adequate area inboard. Having lots of area at the tips makes any plane more stable in roll, something we don't necessarily want in a Pattern model. In my designs I have used 3:1 taper ratios for that specific reason and my models rolling character is the best around. The wing's AC is automatically brought in towards the root, meaning lower moment to the AC and hence improved stability in gusty conditions.

Same holds true for a propeller BTW. Less tip area improves engine or motor efficiency. Think tip vortex reduction

Am I missing something, or has the Shark gone MIA from the Oxai site? I just went there, and couldn't find it anywhere.
