Very cool...should also help avoid the problems with broken paint balls in the breach. Any links to the articles that you've read?

Here you go!...they say the paint residue only comes off at impacts of 60FPS or faster...so no mess when handled or shot from your guns!

And you won't need all the power of the air guns! Could use a stock VS or a tuned stock HL working correctly since the BB's leave marks at 60FPS or greater!

yep...just need the power in the guns now for greater range.

I think 60fps is quite slow so there's not problem leaving a mark at 100 feet (so long as you can hit it

That's what I'm counting on. I figure that between either your gun or Creeping Death's (whenever they come out), we should easily be able to get the 100 ft range. Zero a laser pointer/turret MG for about 50 feet and then you can just use a little "Kentucky windage" if the target is actually a little closer or further than that.

100ft with airsoft is pushing it i have good AEG airsoft replicals and I would say 50ft for target shooting max...with a tank your lucky to hit another one probably at 20ft apart would be a hard thing to do.

you can hit a target at 100 feet (it takes several shots to zero in on it and.... you have to be sitting (lying) right behind your tank) As for battles I'd say 30 feet with a lazer pointer would be possible (so long as the target) isn't moving

Yep but most likely tanks will be moving and also you most likely will have a rule where you won't be able to lay down right behind your tank... Kind of like you need to be like at least 5 to 10 foot away from your own tank and standing so you won't get in the way and so you won't get hit all the time by BB's .
So a 20FT shot to hit a tank will be hard as heck probably.

that's why laser pointers are paramount. tanks usually have to stop to fire, I guess whoever gets the shot away first will be the victor (just like real life - lol)

These little challenges are what makes airsoft so much better than IR in my opinion. It makes the effort much more realistic. With the laser and practice you could hit a moving target at 30 ft. Just like in real life, these earlier tanks, even the Bulldog, were much more accurate if they stopped to fire first and were very effective when used in an ambush role. Just pick a trigger point (use the laser pointer to help) and lead the moving tank. If you miss, adjust and try again or scoot if your opponent is better than you.

Sounds like real life...and a lot of fun.

I have some laser dot sights on some of my airsoft replicas and they are funny ...if you shoot at targets at lets say 15ft and set the laser up so when you are on the target it hits it perfectly at the 15ft you set it to..... Thenanything after this where you set it up it is not acurate you would need to compansate..... example when my gun was set for indoor target with laser @ 15ft now when i use the same gun outside and put the lazer dot on something like 25ft away and take a shot at it the BB's way off target...laser sights are funny this way so for a tank i would say use a laser set it up for acuracy at like 20ft or a little less.

Unfortunately, in my experience, lasers on real guns are the same way. If you set up a laser for 20-25 feet, it will be off on longer shots. Of course, lasers are intended for close encounters of the worst kind, and are designed to get you in the ball park.

i did that when I battled my friends. I put the laser on a point and had the gun cocked and loaded so when they came in the kill zone I let them have it (lol)

Same thing happens with iron sights. I can BZO my service rifle at 300 m. Anything closer will require that I aim lower. Anything further and I have to aim higher. Or, I have to adjust my sights. Same thing with a laser. Wind will blow a bb or a round off course, too. But, the laser pointer on the tank gets you pretty close, if not right on, and you won't have to be standing close to or even behind the tank.
