Maidened my Sky Bench Big Bird Xl yesterday. What a big sweety! Anyway after a few trim flights it was really doing well. I was a little bit high on my last approach and did not want to push my luck with a turn so I went LONG, WAY LONG into the weeds at the far end of the field.
After my walk of shame I discovered no damage from the landing. My airtronics adjustable tow hook was broken (they are noted to be a little soft). Its fixed already.
ANY HOW on my way home I rememberd I HAVE SPOILERS....DUH. I could have put on the old brakes and landed very near our target ( the reels for the high starts)
Well more practice is definatly in order
I laughed out load at myself on this one!

Yeah.... Those new toys (spoilers) can be a big help. Look at it this way Oz, it could have ended up in a tree or with a lot more damage to the bird.

Just remember that it's a good idea to check out spoilers and how they effect the flight of a new plane while you're at least three mistakes above the ground. Some planes like to nose dive if you hit full spoilers and it sounds like your situation was not the time to be finding that out. How do you have the controls on the radio set up for the spoilers? I usually have them on the throttle channel if it's a RES plane. That way I can open them to different heights. About 1/2 way for spoiler action and full for brakes etc etc etc.
