HI Carlos, A-6 is slow going right now, too much family stuff and house hunting to get anything done. I am hoping to have it for both single and twin versions. No new pictures right now but when I have some they will be posted.

Hi guys, I found a NEW 1/5 scale Intruder fuse with foam core wings for sale at my local hobby shop. It is from the ''Flight of the Intruder'' movie. It is on consignment from a gentleman who had it for many years and never did anything with it. It is only the fuse and foam cores. No formers, plans or gear with it.
If interested, Call the Hobby Shop at 941-625-5524. Ask to speak with Mike or Brian. This is a huge jet, shipping will be tough, but i am sure they will work with the buyer. Alex.

I just called and spoke to Mike about the 5th A6E they have on consignment for someone. $800 for the 6 but they refuse to ship it anywhere... I suppose it makes sense to him... All that they need to do is take it to a freight forwarder who's wood butcher will build a crate to ship on a bus... He refused to build a crate or have one made.... Its one of the heavier pulls that came from Dallas.

If you live in Florida this is a good deal... they have the cockpit kit, and all canopy parts. I'm still looking for a cockpit kit and replacement canopy parts for mine.

Looking good Brosi, who is doing the laser cutting for you? Or do you do it in house?

Hi,
I am doing the cutting myself. I bought a CO2-laser from china, I had to search a while for a reliable manufacturer, but in the end it was a good deal. I also own a CNC milling machine, but with the laser, it´s from the sketch to the wooden part in under 30 seconds. Nice tool

It´s an 6540H from Artsign. Perfect machine for an affordable price. Not too cheap, but good value. Great fun to work with.

Another baby step towards getting this plane finished, I got the Joe's CNC working. Still a few tweaks to do here and there but it should be good to go soon!

Aside from taking way too long it turned out fairly good. This is actually my buddies machine and I told him I would finish it for him if he would let me use it for my project. I turned out pretty good. I may use it to cut parts for my own machine. There is a new design out there to this one that uses aluminum extrusions so it is much stiffer and more accurate.

Hi Ian,

I came across this while looking for documentation on the A-4. 40 pages of incredible photos & info on every model and users. Let me know if you think you can use it.

That WAP issue is very good with a couple of fold outs...aka centerfolds for both the EA6B and A6E/F.

Sam and I drove over to Florida and picked up our second 1/5th A6e mentioned here in earlier posts. We drove straight through to just South of Tampa...
after taking an hour tour the Museum Of Naval Aviation in Pensicola, Fla (they have a new hangar which should open after 1/1/2011. We giving strong
consideration to create a wild weasle presentation with a 1/5 scale mobile SAM operated by a third party while we make AIM 9 and retarded M-82 runs
against it... Its good to have two of these now...

Hey ian,
If you decide to use your buddies cnc to cut your machine out, lemm know how much for one if you can squeeze in the time to cut a second one. Ive got a buddy who has offered to pay for my machine if i cut him a few short kits out.

David, nice, that might be very nice. I would love to have a copy. Let me know if you need anything from me!

Thomas, I will let you know when I am ready to build it. I am thinking about the Joe's Hybrid model. I need to buy the plans though first and draw them up in CAD to cut them. I will keep you posted.

Ian,
Sounds good. I have primarily been looking at the "Joe's 2006" machine, which has a cutting area of 2 feet x 4 feet w/ 4.5" of vertical travel. Its a torsion box base made from MDF and the rest is either MDF or HDPE. Plans are free for it as well. He sells the MDF/HDPE parts for $625 shipped ($75 is shipping) but as always, it'd be better if it was cheaper How's the new house coming? Have you gotten any/much work done to the A6?

Love the build! A Joe2006 is a great machine. I love seeing the CAD -> CNC -> RC process. The swarf will become a problem during long cutting runs. Best thing I ever did for my machine is buying a dust shoe (see pic). You can make one pretty easy, I just didn't have a lot of time.

Already ahead of you Butch, those are the ones I am using!!! Love those bits from Think and Tinker.

Thomas, thats what my machine is, a Joes 2006. The Hybrid is his latest design and pretty superior to the 2006. It also cuts a full 4x4 area. The 2006 doesn't cut a full 2x4 area, its more like 24"x42" or so. I was kinda bummed to find that out.

Ahh ok ian. Hmm..24x42, that is a bummer. Would adding an additional 8" to the base make up for the lack of cutting area? Im stuck with a 24x48 machine, as that is the biggest i can shove in the only empty corner of my shop, atleast until i get the garage finished.

brosi,

Prowler looks good. How much preload air pressure do you have on your strut? What are you doing to prevent leakage?
Are you commiting your fuselage to a plug? I found it interesting you were covering with film. That is occassionally used
as a release surface if you were able to attain a uniform airframe.

We have a pair of 1/5th Intruders to work up for next year. One is a rebuild, the other is virgin kit.

Hi,
the struts are loaded with two springs, no air pressure needed. The plane will be unique, no plug or mold was planned.
The surface is covered with oracover film and will be painted overall soon. This guarantees a good quality surface.

I thought I saw a nipple in the strut face...or what we on this side of the pond know as an air line nipple.
This of course is much smaller than the typical nip... to speak as an authority on such things. Has it been
installed as an atmospheric air pressure ballem to prevent air compression and let springs move without
constraint?
