Last wknd at the field a spectator asked me how fast my P-47 was and I replied about 60mph. He replied that fast eh, I hope you have insurance on those things.
So after my buddy and I were discussing all the ways people get wiped out and nothing ever comes of it. I said I'm sure many people get taken out by even golf balls when the in-law tells a story of a guy that took his wife out with the ricochet off his ball. I knew someone that lost an eye to a golfball also. We wont even pick on hunters shooting their buddies, (or shooting your own horse thinking it was a moose).

Scale Master 1988 Las Vegas. Early years for model Jets in competition . We hosted the event at the TOC field. Concern was expressed about metal pipes in the ground at the far ends of the runway. These were installed to keep Vehicles off the thin asphalt surface. Se netting was installed to stop any errant aircraft if they ran out of landing room. Cannot recall what ducted Fan Jet it was but it had a flame out and had to land . The Pilots buddy seeing the Jet would hit the Net ran onto the field and caught the gliding jet about Chest high. Knock him butt over tea kettle the model was damaged anyway and he only broke 3 ribs. I would call that a wipe out .
