Otto, I have the ModelTech P-47 Thunderbolt and am interested in the RCV engines. The information for the plane is as such:

Rec sizes for reg. engines: .61-.91 2c or .80-1.00 4-c
(most people go with a 1.00)
67" WS
wing area:785 sq. in
weight with engine: 10-12lbs

Against many of your postings i want to run the scale 4-blade prop. I have the ability to get a Zinger wood in just about any size.

With all that said which RCV do you think 60-90-120? and where would you start in the prop sizes, as i know it'll take lots of testing with various. The 120 will fit easy and the cooling is not an issue- I have functional cowl flaps.

Thanks

~Ray

Dear Ray

Thanks for your interest in using an RCV SP series engines.

Based on your specifications the RCV90SP would be perfect for your plane.

With regard to 4-bladed propellers, we have not trialled any Zinger 4-bladed props, however we know that an APC 15.5x12 4-bladed prop works well with the RCV90SP. Wooden props are generally less efficient than glass composite propellers but we would certainly like to here how you get on.

Best regards
Laurenne

Thanks,

I'll be doing a full bench break in of the engine as in the manual. Then I will test, tach and observe temp, for probably 6 or 7 different 4-blade configs incl. the APC. I'll gladly share my findings

cheers,
~ray

Just thought I would report back my experience with RCV and the warrantee man Otto Kundra for us guys in the states.

I am so pleased with every bit of customer service I have recieved. RCV Has been very very helpful and responsive with questions and answers.

I also sent my 120 to Otto Kundra for some help with vibration and overheating. While Otto was working on it I decided to have him do the modifications he was talking about. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER with the results!

I have the best running 4 stroke out there! It is smooth, easy to start and very very powerful.

I truly suggest that you buy an RCV for your next scale project or scale ARF and when you buy the RCV just have the modification done before you even break it in.

IT IS WORTH IT

This is a great motor and a great company with excellent support for us boys in the states!

Thank you Laureen (and other staff at RCV) and thank YOU OTTO!
